In X-Men lore, the most powerful mutants are categorized as 'Omega mutants,' possessing power equal to literal gods. Despite the X-Men franchise existing for 61 years, only a couple dozen mutants have been officially declared Omega-level, showing just how rare and overwhelming the power wielded by these mutants actually is. The full list of X-Men's Omegas includes iconic heroes, iconic villains, and some little-known mutants.

Many of X-Men's Omega mutants come from the recently introduced nation of Arakko, so this list will be broken into two parts: Earth mutants (the humanoid heroes and villains most fans are likely to recognize) and Arakko mutants (weird and wonderful new additions who push the boundaries of mutant powers.) We'll also cover potential Omega mutants - those who probably deserve the title, even though Marvel hasn't made it official.

Because "Omega level" can mean slightly different things depending on the comic era, we'll be categorizing each Omega as one of three 'types':

  • Classic - For most of Marvel history, X-Men comics have used 'Omega-level' to refer to incredibly powerful mutants, and especially those whose upper limits are seemingly impossible to measure.
  • Krakoan - X-Men's 2019-2024 Krakoan Era redefined the category, tightening the rules so that mutants were only considered Omega if their power couldn't be exceeded in its area, even hypothetically. For example, Magneto has total control of magnetism - there is no theoretical mutant who could control magnetism in ways he can't. The Krakoan method named only 14 official Omega-level mutants, making this the more exclusive category. It can be assumed that Krakoan Omegas also qualify as Classic Omegas, but not vice versa.
  • Beyond - There have been a handful of mutants who go beyond even Omega level, though no official term for this status exists. We've only used this category where Marvel has explicitly stated the character is beyond Omega.

35 Cable (aka Nathan Summers)

Omega Type: Classic

Cable of the X-Men coming to battle with guns.

Beginning our list of Omega-level mutants from Earth is Cable. The son of Cyclops and Jean Grey, Cable was raised in the future due to contracting a virus that couldn't be treated in the present. Cable is a telekinetic and telepathic mutant, and has claimed in the past to be among the most powerful telepaths on the planet. Indeed, he was labeled an Omega-level mutant for this power in Lonnie Nadler, Zac Thompson and Germán Peralta's Cable #159.

Sadly, Cable is rarely able to access his full powers, as he is forced to dedicate a significant portion of them to fighting a techno-organic virus which is steadily replacing his body with machinery. Thanks to its ability to shapeshift and control other machinery, Cable has opted to maintain the virus even when offered a cure. However, when in full possession of his telepathy, he's been capable of reaching every mind on Earth at the same time.

34 Kid Omega (aka Quentin Quire)

Omega Type: Krakoan

Quentin Quire Old Young

A rebellious former student of Xavier's School, Quentin Quire has immense telepathic and telekinetic power, though only his telepathic abilities reach Omega-level. Kid Omega is able to use these powers to read and influence the minds of others, as well as possessing immense skill at combating other psychics and being naturally shielded from telepathic attack. He's also able to construct weapons out of astral energy - most commonly a shotgun. Despite seemingly disliking the X-Men, he has worked on Wolverine's X-Force roster in the past.

33 Hope Summers (aka Hope)

Omega Type: Krakoan

The daughter of the Phoenix Force, subsequently raised by Cable, Hope is an expert soldier who can copy the powers of any mutants in her vicinity, including taking on multiple powers at a time. Hope can duplicate powers at range and doesn't negate her target's access to their own powers while doing so. She is also bonded to five other mutants known as the Lights, who have a subconscious desire to trust and protect her. Hope is beyond death, but recently gave up human form to exist in the extra-reality space known as the White Hot Room.

32 Magneto (aka Max Eisenhart)

Omega Type: Krakoan

X-Men's most iconic villain (despite spending most of the last few decades as their ally), Magneto has total control over magnetism. This allows him to control and reshape metal, however he has discovered many other applications to his powers, from generating force fields to manually pumping his blood around his body after his heart was torn out by Thanos' uncle Uranos. Magneto is one of the only non-Arakki mutants to ever sit on their ruling body, the Great Ring, and X-Men has implied it's only a matter of time until his daughter Polaris unlocks the same level of Omega-class power.

31 Brian Morrison

Omega Type: Classic

x-men Brian Morrison

Brian Morrison is a young mutant who can generate an immense amount of cosmic energy in explosive bursts. After the chaotic emergence of his powers in X-Men: Gold #36 (Marc Guggenheim and Pere Pérez), Kitty Pryde offered him training with the X-Men. It's unknown what Brian chose, and how his powers may manifest differently with training.

30 Maddie

Omega Type: Classic

x-men maddie aka longitude

Maddie is an Omega-level teleporter, constantly maintaining absolute spatial awareness of a large area around her, with the ability to teleport any object or group of objects within it, likely down to the molecular level. She carries a spear, using her powers to change its angle and direction to always hit her target. New Mutants hero Warlock estimated that in a fight to the death, even Wolverine would only have a 0.0078% chance of survival against her.

Maddie is a little-known character so far only seen in 2017's Deadpool vs. Old Man Logan and X-Men Unlimited Infinity Comic.

29 Proteus (Kevin MacTaggert)

Omega Type: Krakoan

Proteus attacks in X-Men comics.

The son of former X-Men ally Dr. Moira MacTaggert, Proteus has absolute control of reality in his immediate radius. His powers are so extreme that they quickly exhaust his biological form, causing him to need new host bodies, which he can possess and use as puppets. His powers can be disrupted using metal, though the substance isn't immune to his reality warping powers. Once a villain, Proteus allied with the X-Men during the Krakoan Era, becoming an essential part of their Resurrection Protocols, which could bring mutants back from death.

28 Exodus (aka Bennet du Paris)

Omega Type: Krakoan

Powerful mutant Exodus surging with yellow energy from his fists and his eyes

The most powerful telekinetic being in Marvel lore, Bennet du Paris is an ancient mutant born during the 12th century. Exodus can use telekinesis as a blunt instrument, but is also capable of a range of feats, from enhancing his body to superhuman levels to creating objects out of psionic power to incredibly delicate manipulation of multiple objects at the same time. Exodus also has the mutant ability to feed on faith, with Sins of Sinister revealing that with enough followers, Exodus can become a Galactus-level cosmic being.

27 Vulcan (aka Gabriel Summers)

Omega Type: Krakoan

x-men's vulcan unleashing a wall of fire in Marvel Comics

The long-lost brother of Scott Summers' Cyclops, Vulcan has total control over energy. He's capable of everything from hurling bolts of cosmic fire to messing with the electrical signals within the human brain. Betrayed by Xavier, Vulcan developed a hatred of the X-Men, and briefly became the tyrannical leader of the alien Shi'ar Empire. He was part of the terraforming of Mars in Planet-Size X-Men #1 (from Gerry Duggan and Pepe Larraz), using his powers in concert with other Omega-level mutants.

Omega Type: Classic

The most recent Omega mutant in X-Men lore, Forge ascended to Omega level in July 2024's X-Force #1 (from Geoffrey Thorne and Marcus To.) He achieved this using a device that enhanced his power to invent any mechanism, giving him an instinctive understanding of worldwide causality fields. Forge can now instinctively assemble a solution to any problem, but due to the complexity involved, he doesn't necessarily understand his solutions on a conscious level. Currently, he's unsure if he got fellow hero Surge killed due to his subconscious designs.
