Warning! Warning! Spoilers for Phoenix #11 ahead!
The X-Men franchise has just confirmed Sara Grey's mutant power, after the stunning return of Jean Grey's sister to Marvel canon at the end of the previous issue, revealing that Sara possesses the critical ability to activate latent mutations, setting her up for a potentially pivotal role in X-lore moving forward, as she explains: "I can unlock someone's full potential."
Phoenix #11, written by Stephanie Phillips, with art by Roi Mercado, follows up on the prior issue's massive revelation of Sara's return; while Marvel's advanced solicitation for Phoenix #12 promises "the secret origin of Sara Grey," this issue largely serves to acclimate Jean to the idea of her sister's resurrection.
More than just a return decades in the making, the confirmation that Sara is a mutant is always a pay-off for years of untapped potential for the character, and so it is fitting that this is actually an aspect of her new role in X-Men in its own right.
