When asked what the acquisition might mean for huge games currently in development, Weaver states that he has "yet to meet an executive who does not want to accelerate the sale of a potential product." That being said, he also feels that Microsoft respects Bethesda's 34-year history in the industry and their "proven ability to produce quality software." Considering the state of their other recent acquisitions, and even the turnaround Rare has had from the Kinect days, it seems like a good assessment that Microsoft will not try to bulldoze the processes that created games like Fallout 3Skyrim, and Doom: Eternal.

At the end of the day, Christopher Weaver does not have any more insight than anyone else on the outside into the dealings between Bethesda and Microsoft. However, as a series of educated guesses, his talk about how he sees both companies interacting in the future seems on the money. Microsoft would not spend $7.5 billion on a company's assets and possible killer apps like the hotly anticipated Starfield only to freely share them with their direct competition. One of Xbox's biggest problem has been a lack of signature game franchises, and this purchase gives them just that. They need the average gamer to think Xbox when they see the Doom Slayer or Vault Boy, and handing those games over to Sony does nothing to accomplish that goal.
