According to a report, Microsoft is planning to bring several Xbox games to Hellblade 2 was revealed to be coming to PlayStation 5, discussions about additional Microsoft Gaming titles coming to other platforms spilled online, with community asking a prominent leaker if any were coming to Nintendo's platforms. Apparently, the Switch 2 might get some major online Xbox games, but one that's set for PS5 isn't in the works for Switch 2 just yet.

Leaker NateTheHate responded on ResetEra to a report from The Verge, which purports that "Microsoft is also working on some Xbox ports for Nintendo’s Switch 2." The leaker alleged that Sea of Thieves and Halo: The Master Chief Collection are heading to Switch 2, but there are no active plans for Gears of War: Reloaded for Switch 2. NateTheHate said that Microsoft is "planning a lot of in this Age of multiplat publishing," but a lot of Xbox titles that other commentators were hoping for currently don't have Switch 2 ports in the works.

Gears Of War Could Still Happen On Switch 2

But Likely Not By This August

While NateTheHate proclaimed that there is "no current [Switch 2] port in development" for Gears of War: Reloaded, which is an enhanced remaster of the original Gears game that released on Xbox 360 in 2006, he adds that it could happen if "[Microsoft] wants it to." It's a fairly obvious statement, but he also expressed doubt that a Switch 2 version of Reloaded could even land day and date with the Xbox and PlayStation 5 versions, saying, "don't expect such a release to magically appear and land in August."

If Sea of Thieves and Halo: The Master Chief Collection are already in the works for Nintendo's portable console, both titles could release quite soon after the Switch 2 launch. With Nintendo reportedly aiming to sell 20 million Switch 2 units by the end of its first fiscal year, some heavy-hitting multiplayer titles from Xbox could help the platform gain some traction, especially if they take full advantage of the console's GameChat functionality. Nintendo and Microsoft are likely to reveal further release plans this summer, particularly during Summer Games Fest, so fans could hear about these alleged ports by then.

The Switch 2 doesn't have the technical capabilities of a PlayStation 5, let alone a PS5 Pro, but its added power compared to the original Switch makes it a more viable platform for Xbox ports. Microsoft has gotten friendly with Nintendo before, putting games including the Ori series, Pentiment, and Grounded on the Switch 1. Surprisingly, Hi-Fi Rush never made it to Switch 1, perhaps due to technical issues, but a Switch 2 port could be more viable.

Going forward, we could see more Microsoft-owned games releasing on Switch 2, whether they are delayed releases — like how Indiana Jones and the Great Circle came out on PS5 months after Xbox — or day-and-date like DOOM: The Dark Ages. We're most certainly going to get Call of Duty games on the Nintendo Switch 2, but to see Xbox icons like Master Chief and Marcus Fenix on a Nintendo platform would really be a flying pigs moment.
