Microsoft has revealed the LEGO Batman and Tropico 4. There is a growing feeling that Xbox Games with Gold has faded in importance to Microsoft, as Xbox Game is the far superior subscription service.
Xbox Live has been undergoing a number of changes recently, the most notable of which is changing its name to Xbox Network. Microsoft finally lifted the Roblox without needing a paid subscription. While this has been going on, the Xbox Game lineup just keeps getting better and the titles for Games with Gold have been increasingly perceived as an afterthought.

The Xbox Games with Gold titles for May 2021 have been announced in a video on the official Xbox YouTube channel. According to the announcement, Armello will be available from May 1 - May 31, LEGO Batman: The Videogame will be available from May 1 - May 15, Tropico 4 will be available from May 16 - May 31, and Dungeons 3 will be available from May 16 - June 15. Anyone with an active Xbox Live Gold or Xbox Game Ultimate subscription can claim these games when the deal goes live.
Armello is a board/card game/RPG hybrid starring animal people, as they explore their realm and attempt to rule their kingdom through conquest. Dungeons 3 is a real-time strategy game about creating an army of monsters and using them to wage war on the overworld in a fantasy kingdom. LEGO Batman: The Video Game is an Xbox 360 title that will be available on Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One through backward compatibility. The player takes on the role of either Batman or his villains, as they do battle on the streets of Gotham. Tropico 4 is also an Xbox 360 title, in which the player takes on the role of a banana republic dictator as they attempt to maintain control over their country.
This Xbox Games with Gold lineup might be underwhelming, but at least Game is receiving some great titles. is coming to Xbox systems in May, with a day-one launch on Game . It's announcements like these that raise the question of why Microsoft doesn't just merge the Xbox Games with Gold and Game services into one, rather than disappointing those who only have an Xbox Live subscription.
