Microsoft has announced that recommended retailer prices for several pricing of various Switch 2 accessories.
However, it's important to note that most of these price changes are not US-exclusive - their effects will be felt around the world. Whatever the reason, though, players are certain to feel the impact of the new prices. They go into effect today, May 1, 2025, although many online retailers have yet to update their sale pages for the various Xbox products affected by the pricing changes. Here's every Xbox console, accessory, and game you can expect to pay more for in 2025 and beyond.
All Xbox Consoles Affected By Price Changes
Series S & X Will Be More Expensive
The table below contains every console and edition directly affected by the recent Xbox price increases:
Console |
Old Price |
New Price |
---|---|---|
Xbox Series S 512 GB |
$299.99 |
$379.99 |
Xbox Series S 1 TB |
$349.99 |
$429.99 |
Xbox Series X Digital |
$449.99 |
$549.99 |
Xbox Series X |
$499.99 |
$599.99 |
Xbox Series X 2 TB Galaxy Special Edition |
$599.99 |
$729.99 |
That's almost a $100 increase for several consoles in the Xbox Series X/S line - in some cases, even more. The pricing increases do seem to have been calculated proportionately; the more the original product cost, the more its original price has gone up by. For example, the prices of the relatively inexpensive Series X consoles have only been raised by $80, while the deluxe, special Galaxy Edition tacks on an extra $130.
All Xbox Accessories Affected By Price Changes
Controllers & Headsets Are Going Up
In addition to the consoles themselves, you can expect to pay more for official Xbox-branded accessories, like controllers and headsets, beginning this May:

Xbox Stereo Headset |
$59.99 |
$64.99 |
Xbox Wireless Headset |
$109.99 |
$119.99 |
The price increases are far less pronounced for these (less expensive) accessories, but still, they get bigger as the products get more expensive. This will almost certainly set Microsoft back when it comes to selling controllers for PC - as Xbox controllers are easy to set up and compatible with the PC platform, they're a popular choice. However, players will likely seek alternative controllers produced by third-party brands, at least until similar price increases hit their products, too.
Xbox Games Are Also Increasing In Price
Are $80 Games The New Norm?
In addition to the pricing increases for consoles and accessories, Microsoft has also announced that certain first-party games will also see price increases beginning this holiday season. $80 games are now on the table at Microsoft, although it's not yet clear which games are impacted. This follows the news that certain Switch 2 launch titles, including the price of Game (at least not yet), which raised its subscription fee from $16.99 monthly to $19.99 monthly late last year.

ScreenRant interviews South of Midnight composer Olivier Deriviere about his work on Compulsion Games’ ambitious, musically-minded new game.
This comes at a tough time for Xbox, whose console sales have floundered in recent years (see Microsoft's FY25 Q2 earnings report). The price increase will make it harder for Xbox to stay competitive, especially with the Switch 2 coming out later this year and promising tons of big triple-A releases in its early months.
