Microsoft has confirmed that game progress for Smart Delivery titles will transfer from Xbox One to console is also easy to develop for according to some developers and will introduce a number of new technologies and services.
Smart Delivery has been one of Microsoft's most touted features since the company announced the Xbox Series X last year. It will essentially allow s to Assassin's Creed Valhalla will.
Replying to a question from a Twitter on the social media platform, head of Xbox marketing Aaron Greenberg confirmed that progress will transfer over to the new console with Smart Delivery. That means that if you start playing a title on any Xbox One console, you will be able to access your save progress on the Xbox Series X. Whether this is a feature exclusive to games made available through Smart Delivery is unclear. Although it does give an indication that Microsoft's new console will allow players to carry on with their progress if they have started playing on an older platform.
Exactly when everyone will get to experience Smart Delivery first hand is still unknown. Microsoft has so far not revealed an exact release date for the new hardware outside of confirming it will arrive at some point near the end of 2020. Many fans had expressed worry that it may be delayed by the COVID-19 pandemic but there is no indication the worldwide lockdown has significantly slowed down production of the console.
While Microsoft has opened up Smart Delivery for third-party developers, it is clearly focused on big first-party games. The likes of Halo Infinite will almost certainly be used to promote the service when the Xbox Series X launches at the end of the year. Being able to quickly and easily access your games across all Xbox consoles will certainly be a big plus for many potential customers. Players are much more likely to upgrade knowing they can carry on their progress without skipping a beat.
