upgrades revealed recently for the Xbox Series X/S, players will have ample space to store all the games they plan on streaming, and possibly even their stream archives.
The Xbox Insiders program, acts similarly to Steam’s Early Access system, allowing developers and the Xbox team to test everything from games in development to new Xbox features like night mode before they are released to the world at large. This helps ensure that when these products do finally launch, they’ve been thoroughly tested.
The most recent Insider Release Notes from Xbox announced new features coming to the Insider Program, including a new way to live stream to Twitch from the console. This new method uses the existing “Capture and Share” tab of the Xbox menu, on which Insiders can now find an option called “Live Streaming.” After linking their Xbox with their Twitch , players can hit “Go live now” to begin streaming. The feature only streams gameplay and doesn’t integrate with a webcam or any other peripherals, so if the streamer navigates away from the game, their audience will only see a pause screen.
Twitch has had some problems recently, such as the leak of a ton of info—prompting widespread changes, which are wise—but it still remains the most popular streaming platform, even as competitors like YouTube seek to woo streamers to their platforms to chip away at Twitch’s dominance. Gaming remains a big draw for Twitch audiences, so it makes total sense that console companies would seek to find ways to make streaming to Twitch easier.
If Twitch integration is already available for Xbox Insiders, it may not be far off from wide release. There may be final issues to work out, like ensuring that s comply with Twitch's requirements. This Insider test of the feature is sure to come with its own set of issues to work out, but with tester and time, Xbox should hopefully have something ready for the world that makes the whole process smooth and easy. The Twitch gaming space may be opening up sooner rather than later, thanks to Xbox.
