Now, during Marvel Studios' animated at San Diego Comic-Con 2022, the first look at X-Men '97 arrived. This included the debut of the first images from the revival, which revealed the main X-Men team, and that Magneto is still leading the mutants. The X-Men '97 lineup for the team includes Rogue, Beast, Gambit, Jean Grey, Wolverine, Storm, Jubilee, and Cyclops, all of whom were main team in the original series. Storyboards for one of their missions was also featured, which showed the X-Men fighting Trask and his Sentinels, where Jean destroys one robot using another's head, Wolverine attacks another, and Beast rips out its core. The return of Wolverine, Cyclops, Jean Grey, Storm, Beast, Jubilee, Gambit, and Rogue in X-Men '97 is hardly a surprise, as the original voice actors for each character were previously confirmed to reprise their roles. It also comes after Mondo debuted new X-Men toy figures at SDCC directly from the animated series. The show's continuation of X-Men: The Animated Series' events also means bringing in multiple other mutants, as Sunspot, Bishop, Cable, and Nightcrawler were among the characters highlighted to be working with the X-Men too. Additional images and details also confirmed Sebastian Shaw, White Queen, Forge, Morph, Callisto, Val Cooper, and Mr. Sinister will be part of X-Men '97's roster of mutants.

Marvel might have played it a bit safe in of what they showed from X-Men '97, but the nostalgic factor in getting longtime fans excited appears to have worked. No major story details were revealed during the , meaning X-Men: The Animated Series' cliffhanger ending remains unanswered. However, since the original show has been gone for so long, seeing anything about its return will create excitement. The confirmation that X-Men '97 is getting a second season should continue to do the same after seeing some art from the revival.
