A suit design recently shared on Instagram by name @kent_cosplayer, a quick scroll through their feed shows an no stranger to posting homemade costumes of their favorite fictional icons from across the pop culture spectrum.
Dressing as this overpowered version of Cyclops as well as taking a crack at making Scott Summer’s ever-popular blue and yellow 90s look work in real life, @kent_cosplayer has also dabbled in costuming as Marvel’s Spider-Man, DC Comics’ Superman, My Hero Academia’s Bakugo, and more, constantly giving their followers something new to enjoy while nailing the live-action looks of a variety of heroes and villains that fans can never seem to get enough of.

Known for the powerful optic blasts he shoots from his eyes, for consistently leading his fellow mutants to hard-fought victories over their enemies, and for giving Wolverine the business when Logan inevitably doesn’t listen to orders, Cyclops has been a mainstay member of the X-Men for decades now and has become even more popular due to a rotating set of iconic looks that have stood the test of time as some of the best X-Men designs around. And thanks to the events of 2012’s Avengers vs. X-Men, wherein Cyclops, Emma Frost, Colossus, Namor, and Magik, are corrupted by the insidious influence of the Phoenix Force, these “Phoenix Five” are given more power than they’ve ever had before along with some awesome new designs worn for the duration of this epic 12-part series.
As seen in the first photo touching his fingers to the side of his revamped visor, @kent_cosplayer’s costume immediately comes across as something unique in the Cyclops cosplay space. Dressed in a textured black bodysuit and fitted with a red piece of phoenix-shaped armor covering his shoulders and chest, @kent_cosplayer’s second and third pictures double-down on the comic-accurate nature of this epic X-Men design by giving fans a better look at what Phoenix Cyclops is all about i.e. ultimate power and a badass visual design to die for.

Effectively bringing to life a live-action version of a character that needs to be seen up on the big screen — especially with the Phoenix Force and the X-Men’s introduction into the MCU forthcoming — @kent_cosplayer’s attention to detail is what makes this Phoenix Cyclops costume, as well as all of their other designs, so great. So while this unique Phoenix Five form hasn’t been seen since the explosive events of AvX, @kent_cosplayer’s self-made outfit proves that Cyclops’ most powerful transformation is one that shouldn’t be forgotten, lest the Phoenix returns to remind him why harnessing its power was so dangerous in the first place.
