A striking new piece of Storm's punk rock mohawk will forever outlast the tests of time and remain as one of her most enduring looks. The Weather Goddess is known for having favorable costume designs over the years but with Marvel entering its newest Destiny of X lineup, Storm's latest costume upgrade matches the true vigor of her newly appointed title as Regent of Mars.
Storm first debuted her groundbreaking punk look in Uncanny X-Men #173 by Chris Claremont and Paul Smith. The new costume although polar opposite from her authentic Goddess costume, brought instead a classic 80's rocker vibe with all-black attire plus a sleeveless leather jacket and spiked out collar. While her shaved Mohawk stands as her most badass form it also set a redefining image for the X-Men that represented independence and rivetting leadership.
On Twitter, Marvel artist Phil Jimenez displayed a fierce fan art piece of Storm in her new Destiny of X design by artist Russell Dauterman. The artwork presented the X-Men in her powerful unbothered pose from her fashion-forward 80's punk rock costume debut in the Uncanny X-Men # 173 design by Paul Smith. Her lavish afro mohawk reaches for the sky along with a dramatic cat eye and runway makeup that sets a deadly look for anyone who dares to challenge her. The bulky spiked shoulder pads of her leather jacket drape perfectly on top of her new half jumpsuit with lightning bolt accents.
The remarkable Destiny of X design is one of Storm's most deserving costumes but still manages to grab from her timeless rock style of the '80s. The look is symbolic of Ororo's time away from the X-Men while embarking on a self-discovery journey of healing and revelations. Upon returning to the X-Men in Uncanny X-Men #172, Storm became a ruthless fighter in battle without the reliance on her mutant powers and obtaining new skills in knife weaponry and hand-to-hand combat. Advantageous dexterities she now uses to rule the mutant population of Arakko. As a sovereign figure with many monikers, Storm is constantly embracing her familiar warrior self against contenders who seek to apprehend her position.
After the Terraforming of Mars, Storm's powers confirm she's more Goddess than mutant as she continues to grow past her Omega mutant class. Her relationship with Wakandan King and the current Black Panther, Tchalla has also brought the two heroes together concerning their newly bestowed political positions. Storm is not to be messed with as she's proven herself to be more than capable of handling herself thanks to her punk costume that continues to remain as one of her best X-Men looks.
