The establishment of Krakoa as a safe space for all mutants has allowed them to begin developing their own culture, complete with customs and traditions. The X-Men have taken established tropes, such as codenames, and given them a new, broader social significance—they represent part of a mutant’s identity. Now, they have done the same for their costumes. The X-Men’s outfits began as a way to make them fit in with other super-heroes, but now they are taking them and incorporating them into their new society and putting their own spin on them in the process.  No longer are costumes something they merely wear into battle—they now wear them for fun as well.
