Thethe Red Wedding is a pivotal moment in the history of the fictional country of Westeros. As Robb Stark wages war against the Lannisters, he and his army attend a wedding at the home of Walder Frey, an ally whom Robb previously slighted. During the wedding feast, it is revealed that the Freys have aligned themselves with the Lannisters, and brutally kill Robb, his mother and the rest of his army, effectively ending the War of the Five Kings.
Tensions between mutants and the rest of the world have risen since the formation of the mutant nation of Krakoa. The entire political and economic balance on Earth was upended when Professor Xavier announced to the planet that the world changed overnight. The Hellfire Gala is being hailed as an opportunity for the mutants to extend an olive branch and welcome the mutants' friends and foes from around the world to Krakoa. It is also a chance for the mutants to show off their lavish new attire, courtesy of mutant fashion designer Jumbo Carnation. The event will take over the entire X-line of books in June, comprising 12 issues. While keeping a lot of details vague, Marvel has promised that the Hellfire Gala will change everything for the mutants and the entire Marvel Universe.
There is a strong possibility that made at the direction of Professor Charles Xavier, the undisputed leader of the mutants who is known to keep dark secrets. By bringing world leaders and the planet’s mightiest heroes together in one place on their home turf, Xavier has an opportunity to make one more grand presentation of the mutants’ power and solidify their position on the global food chain.
Xavier is not the only one who could potentially make a strike against the humans. As head of the mutant CIA X-Force, Beast has cast aside many of his morals in favor of eliminating threats to Krakoa. He has captured and tortured his fellow mutants to get information from them. He has committed strikes against the leaders of other countries. Beast has even explored the idea of hiring mercenaries to take out enemies. As a longtime compatriot of Xavier, he often loops the Professor in on what he is planning, but he also has a lot of autonomy and will take whatever actions that he deems fit, whether he has permission or not. It would not be surprising if he decided to launch a strike against someone he believes to be an enemy of Krakoa.
ments for the event The Trial of Magneto provide another hint that something terrible is about to go down. Though he has long held a grudge against humanity, Magneto has rejected his old ways in order to see Krakoa prosper and grow. But Magneto has made many attempts throughout his life to shed his villainous past. Perhaps he will once again stray from his path of redemption and make some sort of attack against humans. As a close friend of Xavier’s and one of the leaders of Krakoa, he would be able to get away with this kind of action if he were to commit it in secret, but if he were to kill a human in a public place, the mutants would have no choice but to put him on trial.
There are more mutants lurking on Krakoa who could seek to turn the X-Men's big party into a bloodbath. Longtime villains like the Shadow King, Mister Sinister, Onslaught and Legion have all reared their heads. Mystique promised Magneto and Xavier that she would retaliate after they refused to bring back her wife. While the mutants are not outright villains (yet), there are still many ways that the Hellfire Gala could be the first part of a major conflict between the X-Men and the rest of the world. It’s unlikely that Marvel would devote 12 whole issues to an event that will just be a fancy party, so a dramatic act on par with the Red Wedding is sure to take place.
