Warning: Spoilers for Marauders (2022) #3 and X-Men Red #4
The young Majestrix Xandra, leader of the vast Shi'ar Empire and the "secret" half-mutant daughter of the expansion of mutantkind into the Sol System, and slowly the rest of the universe, the mutants of Krakoa and Arakko are at a precipice that will shape their relationship with the galaxy for years to come.
Majestrix Xandra is the lab-created daughter of the late Majestrix Lilandra and her royal consort Charles Xavier, and while it is not officially confirmed that Xandra is Xavier's daughter, it is an open secret that has indelibly tied together the X-Men and the Shi'ar Empire since her egg-birth in 2018's Mr. and Mrs. X #3. Since then Xandra has assumed the throne of the Shi'ar Empire and has been successfully running the vast galactic society, at least until the recent reveal of the villainous Crimson Kin in Marauders.
Marauders vol. 2, written by Steve Orlando and illustrated by Eleonora Carlini, has focused on the mutant rescue team discovering that the Shi'ar Empire has Xandra is Xavier's daughter and therefore a mutant, so couldn't Krakoa just resurrect her?
Krakoa's Resurrection Protocols, and the mutants' effective immortality, is a hot button issue throughout the entire galaxy right now, with the major thrust of the A.X.E.: Judgment Day involving mutant immortality. Storm and Magneto have destroyed their chance at resurrection to appease the leaders of Arakko, and now the leaders of multiple galactic empires are fighting about whether Xandra should be resurrected. Orbis Stellaris of the Galactic Rim Empire, who to be clear is a straight up evil monster, brings up a salient point, saying, "Reviving Xandra will not fix the rot in the Shi'ar Empire.... But what it will do is install an immortal dictator on the throne..."
For anyone who is frightened of long-lasting fascist, totalitarian regimes, the idea that a leader could be constantly resurrected after death for all eternity is certainly frightening. It also raises important questions about the future of Krakoa and its leadership, particularly the egotistical Charles Xavier. However, Storm is quick to correct the gathered leaders and lets them all know that Krakoa does not need their permission to resurrect a mutant. In fact, the minute that Xavier receives Xandra's dying psychic blast, he immediately calls for Sinister and The Five to resurrect her, meaning she is already being brought back to life.
Nova follows up this meeting with a private conversation with Storm, letting her know that he thinks all the major events that are happening in the galaxy are leading to one major conflict, one that will be centered on Arakko and the Diplomatic Zone. This confirms that the murder of Majestix Xandra of the Shi'ar Empire and her quick resurrection could be the turning point that changes the future of the X-Men's cosmic destiny forever.
