The romance prone Stepford Cuckoos, with whom he has been besotted since he first set foot in Xavier's Mansion.
There's just one problem: Quentin Quire keeps getting killed. Death has always been something of a revolving door for the X-Men, but now it's more temporary than ever before because the mutants can resurrect the dead. A combination of mutant powers and Cerebro technology allows the X-Men to bring back any mutant who dies, and even to implant them with a memory-flash that dates back to the last time Charles Xavier scanned their minds from afar. Death no longer holds any fear for the X-Men, and as a prized Omega mutant, Quentin keeps getting brought back as quickly as possible.
A preview of X-Force #17 was just released by ever-imperiled Krakoa and afterward Phoebe told him she wanted him all to herself, a secret to be kept from the other Cuckoos; and a delighted Quentin was killed literally moments later, meaning all that intimacy was forgotten. Now she decides to take extreme - and frankly amusingly romantic - measures.
Phoebe's solution is actually quite sweet. She's come to accept that her lover keeps getting killed and brought back, so she's carefully curated her memories of their times together. She then attends Quentin's resurrection and telepathically restores those memories, reminding Quentin of all the two young mutants mean to one another. Given Phoebe has been trying to keep their relationship a secret, this is surprisingly bold - not least because she'd have had to ask Five mutants responsible for resurrection on Krakoa to step away so she and Quentin were alone when she restored his memories. Unfortunately, Quentin has other things on his mind than romance and doesn't really seem to understand the significance and intimacy of Phoebe's actions.
The mutant race has changed dramatically in recent years, but it seems young love is as troubled as ever. At first, Phoebe's interest in Quentin seemed self-serving, as though she simply wanted something for herself that she didn't share with the rest of the Stepford Cuckoos; now it's clear she genuinely cares for him. Hopefully, Quentin won't break her heart - otherwise, the young mutant will learn what it means to cross the X-Men's Emma Frost, who has always been rather protective of her Stepford Cuckoos.
