A new teaser trailer for FX began developing in 2015. After being ed between a few different creatives, the project settled on Eliza Clark as showrunner.

The events of Y: The Last Man pick up after a mysterious and sudden cataclysmic event has wiped out every single mammal with a Y chromosome, save for one man named Yorick Brown (played by Warcraft's Ben Schnetzer) and his pet monkey, Ampersand. The series follows Yorick's travels across this post-apocalyptic landscape while his mother, Senator Jennifer Brown (played by Diane Lane) attempts to restore order in society. The show also stars Ashley Romans, Olivia Thirlby, and Quincy Kirkwood.

There have been a few looks at the Y: The Last Man has also gotten a few teasers, the most recent of which teases the hunt for Yorick. The trailer mainly focuses on a meeting between Senator Brown and other heads of the all-female government, which hints at the role that transgender characters will play in the series. As indicated by this trailer, Yorick's survival is merely a rumor and his existence is not yet known within this post-apocalyptic world. As his bodyguard, Agent 355 (Romans), says, Yorrick can't risk being discovered. It's unclear what the government plans are for when they find him, but they are likely interested in conducting research, as he is the only human with a Y chromosome to survive.

So far, the show's marketing campaign has deftly demonstrated that it won't be a typical last man on Earth story, and this latest teaser trailer is no different. In the original graphic novel, transgender people were mentioned but were not a heavy focus, which was updated for the show. The trailer specifically alludes to the fact that trans men do not possess Y chromosomes, and therefore survived the cataclysmic event. In addition, Y: The Last Man will explore the full spectrum of gender identity over the course of 10 episodes when it premieres on September 13 on FX on Hulu.
