Warning: There are spoilers ahead for Yellowjackets season 3, episode 6, "Thanksgiving (Canada)."

Yellowjackets season 3, episode 4.

The Sadecki family is now worried that the person who left the tape may also be Lottie's killer, and that this individual is coming for them next. After reaching out to Van Palmer (Lauren Ambrose), Shauna learns that it is a DAT tape, and Van provides the equipment to play it. Shauna, Van, and Taissa Turner (Tawny Cypress) listen to the tape, which connects to Yellowjackets' past and present timelines, and has significant implications for where the remaining episodes are headed.

The Recording Sent To Shauna Had Audio From Their Wilderness Sacrifices As Teens

An Unfamiliar Voice Is Also Heard On The Tape

The recording begins with the voice of an unfamiliar woman saying, "Testing, testing. One, two three. Oh, my God. What is this?" The episode cuts away from this scene, but when it returns, the recording has audio of the whooping and screeching noises that the teenage survivors made during their sacrifices and ritual feasts in the wilderness. While the survivors have gone to extraordinary lengths to conceal what really happened in the wilderness, this recording is evidence of the truth.

After the tape is shut off, Van makes a comment about how the only people who know about this, other than them, are dead. This means that if the recording is connected to the new characters, played by Nelson Franklin and Ashley Sutton, they are likely going to die. However, if the tape comes from the new characters, and both of them end up dying, possibly through a ritual sacrifice, that does not explain how there is still a tape of what happened, nor does it clarify who left the tape for Shauna in the first place.

Why Was The Recording Only Sent To Shauna In Yellowjackets Season 3?

It May Have To Do With Being The Group's New Leader

As Shauna points out, the tape was only left for her, and it is likely connected with the other suspicious incidents she has been involved in this season, including being trapped in a freezer. The stalker may be targeting Shauna because she will be Yellowjackets' Antler Queen when the recording's ritual sacrifice takes place. Teenage Shauna (Sophie Nélisse) is made the group's leader in episode 6, and if she remains in that position, she may be the Antler Queen that presides over a sacrifice that will be secretly recorded later this season.

In of who sent the shape to Shauna, Hilary Swank's character is the most probable option. Despite being shown in the season 3 trailers, Swank has yet to appear, and there are only four episodes left now. One theory, which is heavily suggested by Yellowjackets season 2, episode 2's ending, is that the stalker is an adult Melissa (Jenna Burgess), who will be played by Swank. If things end badly between Melissa and Shauna in the wilderness, Melissa may still have a grudge and be targeting Shauna in Yellowjackets season 3.
