A new trailer for You season 4 ended with Joe (Penn Badgley) returning to New York City alongside Kate Galvin-Lockwood (Charlotte Ritchie), whose resources seemingly make him untouchable despite everything he's done across the series. The episodes will see him back in his home city, with his past potentially catching up to him after he accepts the person he truly is.

Now, Netflix has released the trailer for You season 5, teasing what to expect out of the show's final episodes. The trailer sees Joe has become famous after marrying Kate, reminiscing about the path that's gotten him to this point. However, his wife's position of power at the Lockwood Corporation is threatened by her sister, Raegan Lockwood (Anna Camp). In the meantime, Joe has seemingly gone back to managing his bookstore, where he meets a woman named Bronte (Madeline Brewer) that he starts developing feelings for.

As his life with Kate is threatened by those seeking to take her down, he begins approaching and killing multiple people to ensure his happy ending. However, he's also being targeted by people from his past, with Nadia (Amy-Leigh Hickman) even being seen imprisoned. Joe is also seemingly trapped in his recurring glass cage, and is drugged in a later scene. The trailer ends with him looking at the camera and insisting he isn't done, before season 5's release date of April 24 is shown. Check out the trailer below:

What You Season 5's Trailer Says About The Final Episodes

Is Joe Going To Jeopardize His Happy Ending?

You season 5 is presenting a multitude of threats to Joe's new life, something he's now going to try and control despite the number of eyes now on him. His fame after marrying Kate grants him a level of protection now that he's in the public eye, but with other of the Lockwood family trying to take her down, his safety is no longer guaranteed. Even so, it appears he'll be starting an affair with Bronte, listening to his impulses, which may see him in another position where he needs to kill to survive.

You Season 5 Trailer Confirms Joe's Relationship Status With Key Season 4 Character

Netflix drops another teaser trailer for the highly-anticipated You season 5, confirming Joe's relationship status with a key character from season 4.

The 10-episode final season presents a double-edged sword, as it appears both Joe and outside forces could upend the protagonist's safety. Whether You season 5's ending will see him get justice, however, is unclear, given how much he's been able to avoid both the law and those seeking vengeance. With the number of enemies he's made since the show began, and with Nadia's return, other characters from his past might return, teaming up together to take the main character down once and for all.

Will Joe Get Away With It Again?

Joe looking surprised in You season 5

Although he's facing down both his past and threats to Lockwood, Joe seems prepared to do whatever it takes to keep himself and Kate safe. Given how much is colliding at the same time, however, You season 5 might not end with the protagonist getting away with his crimes. Even if he's able to escape once more, the cycle he's been trapped in might continue if he can't change his ways.

You season 5 premieres Thursday, April 24 on Netflix.
