George's death makes Meemaw's life after the events of end Young Sheldon despite its popularity was an indication that the writers were honoring the bigger narratives as part of The Big Bang Theory canon.
While The Big Bang Theory firmly established George's death, it didn't reveal any additional details about the circumstances around it. This allowed Young Sheldon to craft it in the way that would best serve its storytelling. In the end, George's death happened off-screen. He had a heart attack while at work, leaving his co-workers to deliver the news to his family. To make things worse, the Coopers were in the process of preparing to take a family portrait as they got ready for some big changes coming their way. Missy and Mary's response was expected, but Meemaw's was surprising.

CBS Ruined George’s Flawless Young Sheldon Death With 1 Annoying Mistake
Young Sheldon season 7, episode 12 delivered George's tragic death and it was handled beautifully, except for 1 big mistake made by CBS.
Meemaw s The Coopers Amid George's Death In Young Sheldon
George's Death Also Leaves Meemaw Heartbroken.
Upon receiving the news of George's death in Young Sheldon season 7, episode 12, "A New Home and a Traditional Texas Torture," Meemaw was also visibly distraught over the news. She immediately provided for both Missy and Mary, who were struggling to keep their emotions in check, and understandably so. While not technically a part of the core Cooper family, Connie Tucker has been a vital member of the clan over the years. Her relationship with George started frosty and contentious, but seeing how devastated she was over losing him highlighted how far their dynamic had come.
Meemaw will continue to be a source of strength for the Coopers in these trying times, as seen in the Young Sheldon series finale. As Mary struggles to finish talking during George's memorial service, her mom runs to her aid to comfort him. Before that, Connie offers her daughter advice on how to move forward through this loss. It's safe to assume that Meemaw is inspired by her own experience of losing a husband while she s Mary and her family amid this ordeal.
TBBT Revealed Nothing About What Happened To Meemaw After Young Sheldon
Meemaw's Post-Young Sheldon Life Is A Mystery.
Considering the role that Connie plays during this crisis, not to mention her involvement in the Coopers' lives since they moved to Medford, it's curious what happened to her after Young Sheldon. While she appeared once and was referenced a couple of times, The Big Bang Theory didn't reveal much about Memaw's life beyond Young Sheldon. Adult Georgie also never mentioned her when sharing how Mary and Missy coped with the loss of George. Georgie and Mandy's First Marriage has a chance to answer this question, and while she won't be a regular, hopefully, CBS takes advantage of the opportunity.

Young Sheldon: Missy’s Last George Scene Sets Up Georgie’s Insulting TBBT Story
As if it isn't sad enough, George's final interaction with Missy in Young Sheldon makes it more tragic and sets up Georgie's TBBT story about her.
For now, no other remaining Cooper will star in Georgie and Mandy's Young Sheldon sequel show, even though it has the opportunity to reveal more about what life was like for the Coopers after George died. While the series will technically be a continuation of The Big Bang Theory prequel, only with Sheldon in Pasadena, California, and George gone, the writers have yet to treat it as such. Instead, it will be focused solely on George and Mandy's life as they raise Baby Cece and navigate the ups and downs of their marriage.
Why Meemaw Needs To Appear In Mandy And Georgie's Young Sheldon Sequel
Meemaw Played A Big Part In Georgie And Mandy's Story.
Mary, Missy, and Meemaw have their respective narrative reasons to be in Georgie and Mandy's First Marriage. As adult Georgie established in The Big Bang Theory, he took over taking care of Mary and Missy after George's death. It would be difficult to stick with that particular narrative if neither regularly appears in the Young Sheldon spinoff. That being said, the need for Meemaw to be in the offshoot stems from the role she has played in the couple's story, especially during their most difficult moments on the heels of getting unexpectedly pregnant.
Since Meemaw got arrested and her illegal gambling den shut down, the pair hasn't really paid attention to her. Young Sheldon season 7 villainized Georgie and Mandy for essentially abandoning her after she opened her door to them and offered all the that they needed. Since the prequel is already in its last two episodes, it doesn't have enough time for the newlyweds to make amends, and it would be detrimental to their image if they don't, especially considering Meemaw's role throughout this ordeal.
A few times in Young Sheldon, Georgie and Mandy showed that they trust their kid more with Connie than their own respective mothers, knowing Mary and Audrey's bad tendencies.
The best way to address this while also filling narrative gaps in her story is for Connie to Georgie and Mandy's First Marriage. Unless Baby Cece's parents move out of Medford, it would be difficult to explain why Meemaw isn't visiting the couple and her great-granddaughter. A few times in Young Sheldon, Georgie and Mandy showed that they trust their kid more with Connie than their own respective mothers, knowing Mary and Audrey's bad tendencies.

Young Sheldon Hasn’t Shown The Most Visceral Reaction To George’s Death Yet
George's death finally happens in Young Sheldon season 7, episode 12, but CBS has yet to show potentially the most visceral reaction to his ing.
Meemaw's Post-Young Sheldon Life Can Explain Her The Big Bang Theory Change
TBBT's Meemaw Is Very Different From Young Sheldon's Version
Meemaw remains the bubbly and lively grandmother in Young Sheldon, and it's safe to say that she will maintain that demeanor until the end of the show. While Annie Potts' version is beloved for her bright personality and cheekiness, it contradicts the more demure iteration of the character in The Big Bang Theory. Sheldon's grandmother only appeared once in the nerd-centric sitcom, but it was clear that she was significantly different compared to her younger self. This is one of the lingering plot inconsistencies between the shows that are often overlooked.
Whatever happens between the events of Young Sheldon and her appearance in The Big Bang Theory likely contributes to the drastic change in Meemaw.
Whatever happens between the events of Young Sheldon and her appearance in The Big Bang Theory likely contributes to the drastic change in Meemaw. Considering how close she is with the Coopers, it's curious why she seemed to have drifted apart from them when she visited Pasadena, even flying on her own instead of being ed by Mary or even Missy. If CBS continues tackling Connie's story via Georgie and Mandy's First Marriage, it can tackle this plot inconsistency. In any case, Potts is so great in the role that there's barely any drawback to bringing her back as Meemaw.
The Young Sheldon series finale will air on Thursday, May 16, 8pm ET on CBS.
