The stars of the Young Sheldon nears the end of its final season. The new show, which is planned for the 2024-25 TV season, will focus on Emily Osment and Montana Jordan's fan-favorite characters, as they continue to parent their daughter CeeCee.
Speaking with ET at the CMT Music Awards, Osment and Jordan discussed their Young Sheldon spinoff. While Jordan shared they "have not seen any scripts" yet, Osment revealed that filming is expected to begin in July:
We're so excited, I just can't wait. We're starting in July, I think, and we're kind of a little blown away by all the people that are around us right now, and the fact that we get to do this because this amazing show is so great.

As the hit series Young Sheldon comes to an end after seven seasons, it has now been announced that a spinoff will continue the story.
When Will Mandy and Georgie's Spinoff Air?
Osment's comment about filming suggests that the Young Sheldon spinoff is still on track to be part of CBS' 2024-25 season. Mid-summer is typically when network shows start filming new episodes, with several scripts usually completed before that point. So, although Osment and Jordan haven't seen any scripts yet, that should change in the coming months, when they might be able to tease a little more about what their characters will be up to in the spinoff.
Will the Young Sheldon Spinoff Succeed?
While a show's success is never guaranteed, particularly in today's crowded TV landscape, the Young Sheldon spinoff has a few things working in its favor. For one, established IP never hurts, and CBS has proven time and time again it can successfully market shows in The Big Bang Theory universe. The spinoff is also particularly well-timed, as with Young Sheldon going off the air this year, viewers can easily fill that hole in their TV schedule with the spinoff – and without adding another show to their watchlist.
It also helps that Mandy and Georgie are two of Young Sheldon's more popular characters in recent seasons. Their relationship has brought a romantic and, at times, dramatic element to the show as they navigate relationship challenges and their unexpected pregnancy. There's plenty between them to sustain a spinoff, should Young Sheldon viewers see it as a worthy replacement.
