What To Expect From Princess Gulun Shou’an In Young Sherlock

The Character Was Created For The Series

Based on the Young Sherlock Holmes books by Andrew Lane, with Matthew Parkhill acting as showrunner, the series reimagines the iconic detective at 19 years of age, depicting him as "disgraced, raw, unfiltered, and unformed." During this time, a young Sherlock Holmes becomes involved in a murder mystery at Oxford University that jeopardizes his freedom. Investigating his first case ever with reckless inexperience, Sherlock uncovers a global conspiracy that changes his life forever.

Princess Gulun Shou'an does not appear in any of Arthur Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes stories, nor the Young Sherlock Holmes series by Lane. However, Princess Shou'an is a real historical figure from the Qing dynasty. In turn, the possibilities are near endless for the character in the Young Sherlock TV show. Given that she's the female lead alongside Fiennes Tiffin's young Sherlock, the princess is poised to play a pivotal role in the series.
