The Dead Body In Sam's House Explained: Who is it & Who Killed Them?
Cooper Leaves His DNA All Over The Crime Scene Of Sam's Ex's Murder
After Cooper and Elena's plan to steal a painting leads to nothing, and Elena ends up leaving him by himself for the night, Cooper decides to text Sam. Sam reminds him that she is at her parents' place with her children, encouraging Cooper to visit her home to steal something. Since he knows the ins and outs of Sam's house already, he has no trouble breaking into her place. However, before he can steal something, things take a dark turn when he slips on the house's floor, hits his head on the ground, and loses consciousness. When he awakens, he finds himself lying next to Sam's ex, Paul.

Everything To Know About Isabel Gravitt, Up-And-Coming Star Of Your Friends And Neighbors
Isabel Gravitt is a name about to become much more famous, as she stars in Your Friends and Neighbors. Here's everything to know about the actress.
He soon realizes that someone has murdered Paul and that he slipped on his blood. Instead of carefully calculating his next move, Cooper panics and ends up sliding all over the blood. He leaves his footprints all over the floor before jumping into the swimming pool. Although the show does not reveal what he did next, it seems likely that he hid Paul's body and tried to destroy all evidence of his murder to ensure his own safety. He then probably took a shower at Sam's house, washed his clothes, and left, hoping that no one would find he was there.
Regardless of who murdered Paul, Cooper is now inextricably entangled in the crime.
While only time will tell who killed Paul, Cooper seems to have nothing to do with it. He was only at the wrong place at the wrong time. Since Paul was having issues with his new wife, she might have had something to do with his murder. Or, since Sam had a rough divorce with Paul, she might have plotted his murder and was likely lying about leaving town to see her parents. Regardless of who murdered Paul, Cooper is now inextricably entangled in the crime.
Will Cooper Get Away After Your Friends & Neighbors Episode 5's Ending
Cooper's Missteps Will Eventually Haunt Him
Episode 5's ending suggests that the Jon Hamm character might have dodged a big bullet for now. However, his DNA seems to be all over Sam's place. Law enforcers previously refused to get involved in the neighborhood's recent robberies because they found it hard to believe that someone from such an affluent community would feel the need to steal. However, now that someone has been murdered, the police will get involved. They might even start connecting all the dots before finding enough evidence to pursue Andrew Cooper.
Cooper may not have left a trail of blood behind him, but he seems to have left enough breadcrumbs for the police to track him down once they realize what is happening in the neighborhood. Owing to this, it is hard not to believe that before Your Friends & Neighbors season 1's end credits start rolling, Cooper will face the consequences of his actions. Since Your Friends & Neighbors season 2 has already been confirmed, the character may not get caught yet, but the walls are undoubtedly closing in on him.
What Cooper's Fallout With Elena Means For His Future
Cooper Will Have To Do Something To Make Up To Her
After Your Friends and Neighbors episode 5's events, Cooper has two choices: he can either change his ways and step back or wait for the worst to happen as he walks further down the criminal path. Given how Cooper and his family's expenses are only mounting day by day, it seems unlikely that the latter will even be a choice. Therefore, even after the near miss in episode 5's ending, he will likely continue his journey as a thief and try to convince Elena to forces with him again.
Since Elena, too, is in dire need of more money, Cooper will likely be able to convince her to forgive him and help him again. Elena's will be necessary for him to pull off his future crimes because she knows way more about the neighborhood than he ever would. However, he will struggle to open up to her about finding Paul's body in Sam's house, which could eventually create a rift between them and even land Elena in some serious trouble.
Why Barney Burned His Mother-In-Law's Cheque
Barney's Financial Struggles Parallel Cooper's
Choi's narrative parallels Cooper's in Your Friends and Neighbors' recent episodes when he, too, struggles to sustain the lifestyle he has created for himself. While his wife drowns him with high expectations, even his in-laws seem to care little about respecting him. The show had previously established that Cooper was Choi's biggest high-profile client. Therefore, Cooper's downfall has also significantly impacted him. Like Cooper, he, too, has surrounded himself with things he cannot afford anymore.
Your Friends and Neighbors is scheduled to have a total of nine episodes, with the finale releasing on May 30, 2025.
To his dismay, his mother-in-law senses his financial struggles and signs him a cheque because she wants him to provide for her daughter. Choi, for obvious reasons, feels offended that she thinks he is incapable of looking after his family. As a result, after a night of drinking, he burns the cheque in a bout of anger. In the Your Friends and Neighbors episode's final arc, he almost sets the renovations in his house on fire with the burning cheque. However, like Cooper, he barely saves himself by coming to his senses and dousing the fire before it is too late.
