YouTube Music has reportedly started pushing out a personalized year review for s similar to Apple Music Replay. Your 2020 Music Journey gives s facts and figures about the music they've listened to during the year. It is slightly unexpected as the service's My Year In Review playlist had already been released.
The My Year In Review playlist went out alongside other, more general songs-of-the-year playlists and is made up of the tracks a has most listened to over the course of 2020. The playlists released by YouTube Music had been widely reported as being the extent of what the platform would offer in of a look back at the year in music for a , in no small part because such playlists and any look-back stats have historically been released together by other platforms.
Spotted by Reddit MoonShinez, Your 2020 Music Journey features many of the same sorts of stats that are provided by its Spotify and Apple counterparts. From an interface perspective, it looks to be far more like Music Replay than Wrapped, with scrolling for navigation through the info provided rather than Spotify's all-singing-all-dancing animation and interactivity. An accompanying message from YouTube Music reads: "Although this year was unusual to say the least, we’re glad we could be your music companion through it all."
YouTube Music Your 2020 Music Journey: Features & Viewing
Featured in Your 2020 Music Journey are a 's most listened artists, playlists, albums, and songs. It also details the total hours of music a has listened to and the month in which they listened to the most music. The My 2020 Year In Review playlist, meanwhile, is prominently linked. The info provided is not as comprehensive as that in Spotify Wrapped or Apple Music Replay, but that is to be expected with it being the first year YouTube Music has provided the year-in-review feature.
As yet, there's been no official announcement from YouTube Music about Your 2020 Music Journey so it's not clear if the feature is available to all YouTube Music listeners or just those with s. It does appear that notifications are being sent out via email, although, presumably, s will need to be opted in to receive those. As with Spotify Wrapped, Apple Music Replay, and even YouTube Music's songs of the year playlists, though, s can expect to see the feature appear in their app as the roll-out reaches them.
