Link Summoning is the latest type of Special Summoning introduced to the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG and Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel players can use powerful Link Monsters to allow them to summon additional Extra Deck Monsters to the field. They were introduced with the sixth Yu-Gi-Oh! Anime series, Yu-Gi-Oh! VRAINS, Link Monsters changed the way players could summon Monsters to the field and made field positioning more critical than ever. While Link Summoning may seem complex for new and returning players, it's relatively easy to get the hang of and can give players a significant advantage in almost any duel. In addition, Link Monsters can be incorporated into a wide variety of deck builds and often strengthen the existing mechanics of the deck with their unique abilities.

Unlike other types of summon Yu-Gi-Oh! 's Extra Deck Monsters to any of their Main Monster Zone linked to the Link Monster, which is indicated by the red Link Arrows on the Link Monster Card.

Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel players can link multiple Link Monsters to summon more Extra Deck Monsters to the field's Main Monster Zones, so they'll have to use field positioning to their advantage by paying attention to the directions their Link Monster's Link Arrows are pointing. However, some Link Monsters will have Link Arrows that point to the opponent's side of the field, allowing them to summon Extra Deck Monsters to these zones as well. Link Monsters can also be used as Materials for other Link Summons, and they count as multiple tributes equal to their Link Rating. For example, a Link Monster with a Link Rating of 2 counts as two tributes instead of just one. Yu-Gi-Oh! 's Trap Monsters and Tokens can also be used as Link Materials as long as they meet the requirements of the specific Link Monster being summoned. It's important to note that Link Monsters can never be in a defense position since they do not have a Defense stat.

Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel allows players to Link Summon powerful Monster Cards.

Since Link Summoning allows players to have more than one Extra Deck Monster on the field at a time, Link Monsters are one of the best types of Monsters to include in any Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel deck. Link Monsters usually only require generic tributes like Link Materials, allowing players to set up great combos with various deck archetypes and playstyles. Extra Deck Monsters are some of the Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel and having more than one on the field can give players a major advantage against their opponents.

However, building a Link Deck comes with its own strategies and Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel players who enjoy incorporating field positioning into their play style can set up some great combos with the right deck structure. For example, Link Monsters often have special effects that activate and grow stronger depending on how many Monsters are linked to them. Players can even chain their Link Monsters in a U-formation to take control of both Extra Monster Zones on the field, making it much more difficult for their opponent to summon some of their best Monsters. Players hoping to build a Link Deck should pay attention to the Link Arrows of the cards they choose and include cards that can be easily linked together to unleash the strongest possible combos in Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel.
