One of the most popular original anime from the 2010s, and one of the biggest Boys' Love series ever created, Yuri!!! When the series was being physically released in Japan, each Blu-ray managed to top Oricon sales charts, and the series' finale is infamous for having caused Crunchyroll servers to crash on the day it was released.

This news has been met with heartbreak from fans, with many calling out studio MAPPA for their mismanagement of the franchise, and claiming that the studio has neglected a series that vital to their success with mainstream shonen hits like Jujutsu Kaisen and Chainsaw Man.
Yuri On Ice!!!, which originally aired from October 2016 to December 2016, and followed 23-year-old Japanese figure skater Yuri Katsuki after a crushing defeat on the ice led him to an existential crisis that made him quit skating all together. After being secretly recorded replicating a technique from his favorite skater, Viktor Nikiforov, Yuri catches the attention of his aforementioned idol and the pair set out to revive Yuri's career. The series had a massive impact when it was released, and managed to put studio MAPPA on the map as an animation studio that fans could seemingly rely on to produce high quality work, and that the studio was unafraid to have blatant same-sex representation in their original projects. During its run, the Kadokawa Ascii Research Laboratories revealed that Yuri On Ice!!! was the most tweeted about anime from Fall 2016, amassing nearly 1,440,596 tweets discussing the anime.
