Kristen Stewart speaks about filming the movie Zathura is a movie set in the world of Jumanji, chronicling the story of two brothers who are hurled into space, along with their entire house, because of the board game they are playing. The film stumbled at the box office, making $65 million worldwide, which could not turn a profit on its budget, which was also $65 million.

Speaking with Cinema Blend, Stewart reflects on her time working on Zathura. She points out that "that movie was stacked" and was an exciting opportunity for her to film on "a studio lot." In of the content of the film itself, she fondly re it as "make believe to the largest degree" and mentions that she "love[s] that world." She found herself laughing easily on set, and overall enjoyed her Zathura experience. Check out Stewart's full quote below:

Oh, I love Jon Favreau. And Josh Hutcherson. Like, that movie was stacked, if you think about it. We were all little. Yeah, when I think about that movie, I think it was the only time I ever shot on a studio lot. Uh, second time. But it was so fun. It was like make believe to the largest degree. It was kind of scary. I had to laugh sometimes. It was a comedy. I was a budding teenager, and so I was definitely not like, easily laughing, you know? But it was so fun. I love that crew so much. I also love Jumanji. I love that world. I love the idea of the board game sucking you in. No, that frozen . . . what was her name? Lisa? I have a brain. It exists. I everything! (But) our avatars with the little onesie suits? I like those guys. I think maybe the frozen teenager is disturbing me, in my own memory.

Zathura Featured Several People Before They Were More Famous

Taking another look at the Zathura cast, Stewart is right about the cast being stacked. The movie included several veteran actors, including Frank Oz and Tim Robbins. While the film is not a title that would quickly come to mind when thinking about either of these actors' careers, it is still notable that they took part in the 2005 movie. Furthermore, Favreau later became a key director in Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) films and more, so Zathura was a good example of his early work.

In addition to being a breakout film for Favreau, Zathura also featured early performances by several actors who are big now. It featured, for example, Josh Hutcherson as one of the leading brothers. While he would go on to be in The Hunger Games later in life, the actor was only 13 years old when he acted in Zathura. Likewise, the movie also featured Dax Shepard before he was known from shows like Parenthood and more. As such, Stewart is absolutely right that the Jumanji spinoff film "was stacked, if you think about it."

While this movie has largely been forgotten, Stewart's quote is a reminder that the 2005 film might be worth revisiting. Even if Stwart was freaked out by it, the moment where her body freezes is also an iconic part of the film, representing the whimsy in Zathura.
