A fan of Legend of Zelda's famous Death Mountain, the air is so hot that Link is at risk of bursting into flames.
In order to survive these extreme conditions, Breath of the Wild furnishes the player with a number of solutions. Players can make use of Breath of the Wild's cooking mechanics to produce dishes and elixirs that will allow Link to temporarily withstand the elements, but a simpler method is to simply purchase outfits that will provide long-lasting protection. One such outfit can be found in Goron City to keep Link from bursting into flames, and it's all but necessary for players who wish to make prolonged excursions into the home of Legend of Zelda's iconic Gorons.
But players who want a more unorthodox solution can turn to Reddit Champions-Descendant, who's found a clever trick to keep Link safe from the flames. A video ed by the shows Link attempting the Test of Will challenge, a side quest which tasks the player with enduring fiery heat without the help of elixirs or protective gear. In the video, Link simply drops a piece of ChuChu jelly at his feet and strikes it with the Master Sword, effectively dousing the flames. Champions-Descendant explains that this works because ChuChu jellies function like water in Breath of the Wild, and Link cannot burn while he's wet.
While this is a very clever solution, it's not likely to save players much time in the long run. Outside of the Test of Will challenge, wearing fireproof clothing or drinking elixirs is generally a more efficient solution than striking ChuChu jellies every now and then. However, it's still an impressive example of the sorts of clever tricks Breath of the Wild players can pull off. Ever since the game's initial release back in 2017, fans have been pushing its inventive mechanics to their limits and achieving remarkable feats as they make their journey across Hyrule.
Given Breath of the Wild's long history of brilliant exploits and amazing discoveries, it remains to be seen what sorts of achievements players will be able to pull off in its as yet unnamed sequel. The second Breath of the Wild game is slated for release sometime this year, but at present, fans don't have a specific window or even a real title to work with. Following the disappointment of BOTW 2 not appearing at February's Nintendo Direct, players are left wondering just when they'll get their hands on the successor to Breath of the Wild.
