Within The Legend of Zelda universe, there are multiple timelines and games that generally don't correlate with each other, and yet, while The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask is actually a sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, it still manages to leave Link without ever being able to complete his initial quest. After over two decades it is very unlikely that a follow-up game will be made, although both games have enough popularity behind them to warrant it. Many fans of the series would likely enjoy a chance to get to go back to that portion of the Zelda series and see where it leads.

It can be fun to compare Ocarina of Time to Majora's Mask since they use many the same assets but are actually incredibly different in tone. They both are iconic fixtures in the Zelda series, but Majora's Mask ultimately fails to resolve its own hook. Link's initial quest just gets dropped, and one important character is forgotten along with it.

Link with Navi in the legend of zelda: Ocarina of time.

Following the end of Ocarina of Time, Navi leaves Link without any real explanation. The opening of Majora's Mask starts with Link looking for his little fairy friend Navi, but naturally, he becomes a bit distracted once he finds himself falling into Termina. The rest of the game focuses on Link's adventures in that parallel world without any other mention of Navi. Though much time was inevitably lost from Link's search, a follow-up sequel to the games could allow Link to once again try to look for her. Nintendo seems to have left the truth of Navi's disappearance as a mystery, but the possibilities could lead Link on new exciting adventures.

A New Sequel To Majora's Mask Could Finish Navi's Story

Link and Navi in Zelda

In fact, Navi never really got the respect she deserved, and was almost cut from Ocarina of Time entirely before the game was even released. Her departure at the end of Ocarina of Time has always felt a bit sad, and several fans have created their own theories of where Navi went after that moment. Some simply believe she went back to Kokiri Forest, while other hypotheses grow wild enough to warrant another video game to explore the ideas. These theories and more would be ample content for Nintendo to draw ideas from to allow players to help Link follow clues to ultimately find out what happened to his little fairy friend.

With Nintendo focusing on Link and Zelda's adventures in Tears of the Kingdom, it would be very surprising for developers to go back and create a new game in the classic timeline of Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask. For some fans, however, it would be nice to see a resolution to what happened to Navi and to be able to spend more time in that world. The Legend of Zelda has many memorable moments and characters in its history, and whether someone is a fan of Navi or not, it would just be nice to know what happened.
