A fan has imagined what a Pokémon BDSP-themed Switch Lite being a recent notable example.

Breath of the Wild took the gaming world by storm when it released five years ago alongside the Nintendo Switch. As a major revitalization and revamp of the Zelda formula and a fresh take on the ubiquitous open-world genre, BOTW gained traction with both series fans and newcomers, and likely played an instrumental role in the initial success of the Switch. As such, the game has become something of a modern icon in the eyes of many gamers, creating scores of new Zelda fans and remaining one of the most popular games on Switch. It is also just one of a few Zelda entries available on the system, as fan-favorite titles like Zelda: Twilight Princess haven't launched on Switch.

Redditor and Breath of the Wild fan daphyduckspo has created their own design for a limited edition Zelda Nintendo Switch console, one that could be perfect for Nintendo to release alongside Breath of the Wild 2. Their digital concept art is emblazoned with both a rustic Triforce and a small portion of the BOTW logo, while the dock is marked with ancient symbols. The Joy-Cons are gold, with each having different Zelda designs. Both the dock and the console itself are also gold, reminiscent of previous Zelda special edition consoles released by Nintendo over the years, including the Game Boy Advance SP and Nintendo 3DS.

It's perhaps surprising that Nintendo hasn't released an official special edition Zelda Switch, especially considering how popular previous special edition Zelda consoles have been over the generations. This lack of an official release from Nintendo hasn't stopped fans from making their own concepts, though, as daphyduckspo's design s the likes of last year's Wind Waker Switch skin, once again showing how this franchise's iconography can be put to good use.

Nintendo has remained fairly quiet on the release of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2. While fans have gotten a look at some gameplay, the story and even the game's official title are still a mystery. With BOTW 2 recently being delayed to 2023, players will still have to wait a while to find out more. As for whether or not Nintendo will release a special edition console to celebrate Link's next outing, that's even more uncertain, but thanks to artists like daphyduckspo, players can certainly hope.
