Summary

  • A Fuse mod in Ocarina of Time allows players to attach any object to Link's sword and shield.
  • It's a mod inspired by Tears of the Kingdom's Fuse mechanic, and creates some hilarious and game-breaking situations.
  • This mod is in development for a PC port of the classic Zelda game.

One easy vehicles for traveling around Hyrule and any number of odd contraptions for defeating enemies. These builds range from useful, to silly, to just downright impressive and opened up an entirely new way to play the game.

One clever modder, notCHase on YouTube, has shown exactly what TOTK's Fuse ability would look like if implemented into Ocarina Of Time. Originally reported by Wccftech, this feature is a mod that is currently under development for a PC port of the game.

Though it is not available yet, notCHase's video shows how helpful Fuse could be for players going through Ocarina of Time, making large sections of the game trivial. It works essentially the same as it does in Tears of the Kingdom – Fuse is used on a selected object in the environment to attach it to Link's sword or shield. Of course, this has game-breaking abilities, but it's well worth the entertainment it brings.

The Fuse Mod For Ocarina Of Time Creates Hilarious Scenes

Anything Can Become A Weapon Thanks To The Mod

As seen in the video, notCHase ran around creating weapons out of trees, rocks, signs, enemies, and even guards. The video hilariously shows off notCHase Fusing with a guard and using him to destroy pots. They even Fused the Master Sword to the Kokiri Sword, creating a double sword-type weapon. Though it doesn't mention if these items are more powerful depending on what they're Fused with, like the best Fuse materials in TOTK, it did show off that taking a torch could allow the player to burn through cobwebs, just like lighting a Deku Stick.

Creating unique items is a feature that players never knew they needed until Tears of the Kingdom brought it to life, but now it seems as though many players wish it could be a feature in all the other Zelda games. Thanks to creative players like notCHase, this mod will let players experience this feature in at least one previous Zelda title. This is really only possible since the classic Zelda game has a PC port, where new assets can be added to the game.

The modding community is always improving gameplay, so it is exciting to see this feature become a reality in older games, since Fuse is such a novel mechanic in TOTK. With The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom on the horizon, Zelda's new ability to create Echoes of objects and enemies will likely inspire similar mods. This Ocarina of Time mod is certainly impressive, as Tears of the Kingdom is generally considered a technical triumph for the seamless nature of Fuse and other abilities in the game, making it a similarly ambitious The Legend of Zelda title to Ocarina.
