Various armor sets can make certain tasks very simple in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, including obtaining the game’s various Yiga Schematics. Yiga Schematics unlock new Autobuild templates for Link to use, and are found scattered around the Depths in Yiga bases. Furthermore, despite the security precautions that the Yiga have set up to protect them, Link can easily retrieve them with the right armor to his efforts.

Having spread throughout the Depths after the events of Breath of the Wild, the Yiga Clan has now set up a multitude of bases across the underground realm in TOTK. At the center of each base is a treasure room containing both a Yiga Schematic and a Large Crystallized Charge. However, the doors to these rooms are locked at first through Yiga magic, as indicated by a glowing red circular seal and accompanying paper talisman. In order to gain access, Link must first defeat the Yiga maintaining this seal, who is easily identified among their fellow guards by the matching red seal surrounding them.

Wearing The Yiga’s Uniform Makes Infiltrating Their Bases Simple

Of course, defeating the Yiga in these bases may be easier said than done; with the Yiga patrolling on various vehicles, clearing the base requires Link to face some highly mobile enemies. However, when Link wears his own Yiga Clan uniform, this becomes a non-issue. Disguised, Link can move into position without the alarm being raised and target the seal-maintaining Yiga with ease. Any remaining Yiga will not attack him in retribution; wearing the Yiga Clan Armor set ensures they remain non-hostile, even if one of their fellows is dispatched in plain sight. Link can then retrieve the Yiga Schematic and Large Crystallized Charge without issue.

Finding The Yiga Clan Armor Requires Traversing Hyrule

The Yiga Clan Armor set can be extremely useful in exploring TOTK’s Depths from a tactical point of view. While Link may otherwise need to employ stealth or fight his way through a number of guards to obtain a Yiga Schematic, all it takes with this disguise is a single well-placed arrow shot made in plain view. Naturally, the lack of consequences trivializes the entire process of assaulting any Yiga base, as well as hilariously making the entire Yiga Clan seem especially foolish depending on how blatant Link's actions are.

The Yiga Armor set’s component pieces, a Mask, Armor, and Tights, are each found being made by captive Hylian fashionistas held in three Yiga hideouts scattered across the surface of Hyrule. Namely, the Akkala Ancient Tech Lab, as well as two new locations found on the Great Plateau and in the Aldor Footlands. Interestingly, although the full set is typically required for peaceful interactions with Yiga Clan , wearing their replica Lightning Helm in place of the Yiga Mask will also maintain the illusion. Only Master Kohga can recognize Link in this disguise, with other Yiga instead striking up casual conversations or scolding him for drawing attention to their traps.

Similar to many other armor sets in Tears of the Kingdom, the Yiga Clan Armor serves a specialized but useful role in progressing through the game. In addition to allowing Link to have friendly interactions with the Yiga clan, it can also be used to easily acquire the various Yiga Schematics hidden in the depths. This, in turn, helps to make exploring Hyrule much easier in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom with the addition of new vehicle templates to suit a variety of situations to the Autobuild ability.
