As the daughter of Lisa Bonet and Lenny Kravitz, Zoë Kravitz has since made a name for herself, continuously appearing in fantastic movies and television as she carves out her own career. Her first role was in the 2007 film, No Reservations, before her first breakthrough as an actress in X-Men: First Class just four years later. Following her role in that, Zoë Kravitz has appeared in a variety of other franchises, including Fantastic Beasts, Divergent, Batman, Spider-Man, and Mad Max.

With Zoë Kravitz turning her attention to directing in 2024 with The Batman Part II on the horizon, as she plays a key role in the latest iteration of Matt Reeve's Batman franchise.

Blink Twice Ending Explained

Blink Twice's ending flips the dynamics that came before. We break down the ending of Zoë Kravitz's directorial feature debut and the biggest moments.

1

Zoë Kravitz's role in the film isn't that large, though, as she only plays a swanky stewardess, but she is always memorable no matter how much screen time she gets on projects. What stands out in Blink Twice, though, is how she was still able to include herself in a small scene, taking the M. Night Shyamalan route by appearing in the films that they direct. It will be fun to see if she begins to write larger roles for herself in other films she directs as she continues to get more comfortable behind the camera.

Taking place during the pandemic, Kimi is a stellar film about an agoraphobic tech worker who accidentally discovers evidence of a violent crime at her company and reports it, only to get drawn into a tense thriller that forces her to leave the comfort of her apartment. Directed beautifully by Steven Soderbergh, Kimi is a well-crafted thriller set within the corporate world and a vehicle for some truly outstanding performances.

Zoë Kravitz is the easy standout in Kimi, tasked with carrying a lot of the film by herself in her character's apartment. As she has to venture out into the city to begin uncovering the truth, Zoë Kravitz is able to effortlessly show how paralyzing the character's anxiety could be and the mentally draining aspect of being so afraid of stepping into danger during a harrowing moment for humanity.

Following the terrible reception to both X-Men: The Last Stand and X-Men Origins: Wolverine, the future of Fox's franchise wasn't that clear anymore until Matthew Vaughn breathed new life into the franchise with X-Men: First Class. Serving as a prequel to the original trilogy while also being a pseudo-soft reboot, having X-Men: First Class focus on the newly formed friendship between Magneto and Professor X was an inspired choice, making it one of the best Fox X-Men movies.

A true sequel to X-Men: First Class never came to fruition as X-Men: Days of Future Past borrowed from the original characters as well as the new ones.

X-Men: First Class was actually the first big breakthrough role for Zoë Kravitz, who plays Angel, a mutant who has dragonfly wings and spits acid. She is recruited by Charles Xavier before she ultimately decides to Kevin Bacon's Sebastian Shaw, the villain of the film. Zoë Kravitz fits right in with the rest of the fresh faces in the franchise, and even though she isn't the most significant mutant in the film, it showcased her talent and affinity for characters in big franchises.

Tasked with being a new take on the John Kusack film and also the novel of the same name, the High Fidelity TV series was initially met with skepticism, but it turned out to be a fantastic adaptation, keeping in line with the spirit and tone that came before but with a fresh coat of paint. The series follows Robyn Brooks, a record-store owner who revisits past relationships through the lens of music and pop culture.

It's another fantastic leading performance from Zoë Kravitz, who has proven herself as a talented actress.

It's unfortunate that High Fidelity was canceled after one season, namely because Zoë Kravitz does such a good job playing Robyn Brooks, living up to the high standards John Kusack set for the character decades prior. Her performance is poignant and heartfelt, as her character recollects on the good and bad that came before in her life, while looking towards what the future could hold. It's another fantastic leading performance from Zoë Kravitz, who has proven herself as a talented actress.

Lego Batman was one of the major highlights of The Lego Movie when it came out, so it was only natural that they would want to capitalize on that, making The Lego Batman Movie, a spectacular adaption of one of DC's most iconic heroes. Filled with nonstop, witty jokes and an obvious love for the Batman mythos, The Lego Batman Movie is one of the best adaptations of the character. Will Arnett is fantastic as Bruce Wayne / Batman, and the rest of the ing cast of the film delivers as well.

A bit prophetic, Zoë Kravitz plays Selina Kyle and Catwoman in The Lego Batman Movie, several years before she would play that role again in Matt Reeves' The Batman. Though her role is small in the film, she is great, as Catwoman regularly says "meow" during her dialogue, a tongue-in-cheek joke that is perfect for the tone of the film. It's fun seeing Zoë Kravitz play a role in a vastly different way than she would later, showing her versatility as a performer.

Written and directed by Rick Famuyiwa, Dope was a fresh take on the coming-of-age genre when it was released in 2015. Featuring a nerdy kid who accidentally gets caught up with a drug dealer after going to a party with a girl he has a crush on. Dope is a poignant look at youth, race, and class, with a fantastic soundtrack and incredible performances across the board. It's one of the most underrated coming-of-age movies in the past several decades.

Zoë Kravitz plays Nakia, a cool, often nonchalant girl that the main character, Malcolm, has a crush on. The two bond more throughout the film, and by the end of it, seem to be romantically involved. While she isn't a main character in Dope, Nakia is significant to the entire story, and Zoë Kravitz plays the character extremely cool, making her a charming and engaging character to watch on screen.

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse exceeded all expectations when it was released, winning the Academy Award for Best Animated Movie. Focusing on Miles Morales coming into his own as Spider-Man with a multiverse backdrop with other Spider-Man variants acting as ing characters, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse was a breath of fresh air for the character. Add on the fact that it has some of the best animation ever seen, and it's one of the best Spider-Man films ever made.

Zoë Kravitz plays one of the most important characters in Spider-Man's history, Mary Jane Parker. In Into the Spider-Verse, she portrays two different versions of the character, as the wife of Peter Parker in Miles Morales' universe and the ex-wife of Peter B. Parker in another universe. It's not a big role, but she does a great job, and it is unfortunate that she didn't return to the role in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.

Based on the novel of the same name by author Lianne Moriarty, Big Little Lies is a fantastic adaption by HBO that was originally envisioned as a miniseries before being expanded after its incredible success. Telling the story of five women who become embroiled in a homicide investigation, Big Little Lies is an often funny thriller that works so well off of the committed performances from the group of women that include Nicole Kidman, Reese Witherspoon, Shailene Woodley, Laura Dern, and Zoë Kravitz.

Zoë Kravitz is surrounded by some of the best actors in Hollywood, but she doesn't get lost in the shuffle, turning out a great performance as Bonnie Carlson, wife of James Tupper's Nathan Carlson. Zoë Kravitz captures the free-spirited and often laid-back personality of Bonnie Carlson perfectly, and likes to stay out of the drama as much as possible, a refreshing change of pace from the rest of the characters in the series.

The Batman was a highly anticipated new adaptation of the Dark Knight, and Matt Reeves delivered in spades, crafting a three-hour crime epic that emphasized the detective aspect of the character. Robert Pattinson delivered a fresh take on the character, and the atmosphere is suffocating in every single scene. The Batman might be the best-looking comic book movie ever made, gritty and dirty, but truly something gorgeous.

Slinking around in the dark and blending into underground clubs, Zoë Kravitz's Selina Kyle is amazing, making her an integral part of the story, and a solid contrast to Robert Pattinson's Batman, as the two of them begin to develop feelings for each other throughout the course of the film.
