From rom-coms to intense thrillers, Zoey Deutch continues to propel herself into Hollywood stardom. The daughter of Back to the Future actress Lea Thompson and frequent John Hughes collaborator Howard Deutch, she has worked on a variety of movies, shining in ing roles and eventually working her way up to prove herself as a lead actor. She has shared the screen with fellow rising stars like Glen Powell as well as Oscar winners like Mark Rylance and Emma Stone.
While her first role was on The Suite Life on Deck, her versatile performances since have made her a growing star. From working with acclaimed director Richard Linklater to leading one of Netflix's most popular romantic comedies, Deutch's performances have been well-received by fans and critics alike while the movies themselves do moderate to well for the most part. Returning to the screen in Clint Eastwood's latest (and possibly last movie), Deutch continues to be an impressive young talent.

As with many actors, Zoey Deutch's early career began with her trying to stand out in smaller roles. Starring alongside Zoë Kravitz and Kid Cudi, Deutch plays Kate in the crime thriller Vincent N' Roxxy about rebellious city girl Roxxy who meets rural loner Vincent after being pursued by a drug dealer. As soon as the two start to gain feelings for each other, they realize that they are being pursued by violent and revenge-seeking criminals and must escape if they want to live.
In one of her first movie parts, Deutch plays a ing role and while the script was criticized for being underdeveloped and overly convoluted by several audiences, the performances were well-received, particularly Kravitz's. Despite the size of Deutch's role, she manages to bring a likable quality to her character in a movie that is lacking in likable characters.

Written by John M. Phillips and directed by Dan Mazer, Dirty Grandpa is a Comedy starring Robert De Niro and Zac Efron in the lead roles. The premise sees a corporate lawyer taking his Army veteran grandfather through the state of Florida during Spring Break.
For any actor to work alongside acting legend Robert De Niro, it is sure to be a career highlight. However, Zoey Deutch had the pleasure of working with the Oscar winner in something very different from his usual acclaimed work. Dirty Grandpa is a comedy that stars Zac Efron as a young man who takes his grandfather (De Niro) on a road trip following the death of his wife.
However, once on the road, his grandfather reveals that the trip is his introduction into single life, with drugs, drinking, and sex. Deutch gets in on the wild fun as Shadia, a girl the grandfather and grandson meet at Spring Break who becomes the love interest for Efron's character. While the movie is far from high-brow entertainment, there is some fun in seeing just how much it leans into its R-rating while also giving De Niro a truly outrageous comedic role to play.

She is a big part of the reason the movie works at all, delivering a hilarious performance with layers.
While the movie has a bold premise that could have made for a truly interesting dark comedy, it never manages to find the right tone to make it work. However, as a showcase for Deutch in a leading role, Flower is exceptional. She is a big part of the reason the movie works at all, delivering a hilarious performance with layers. She even manages to outshine some of the veteran comedic actors in the film, like Kathryn Hahn and Andrew Scott.

As the movie goes along, she starts to reflect on the person she is and the people she hurt.
Deutch's performance received notable praise from critics and audiences alike, with Deutch receiving a Teen Choice Award nomination for Best Actress in the Drama category. The film delves into Salinger's personal and professional life, revealing the challenges and triumphs of his literary career.
While Zoey Deutch and Nicholas Holut recently teamed up in the cast of Juror #2, the first time they worked together was in the biopic Rebel in the Rye. Hoult stars in the movie as JD Salinger, as the film takes a look at his early life as an inspiring writer, the trauma he endured fighting in the war, and his subsequent efforts to write one of the most influential novels of all time, Catcher in the Rye.
Deutch costars as Oona O'Neill, the daughter of playwright Eugene O'Neill, who shares a romantic relationship with Salinger. The movie is an intriguing look into the creation of a masterpiece of literary history. With Salinger being such a fascinating character, it is a little disappointing how cliché this examination of his life ends up being. However, the performances are good, with Hoult bringing layers to the complex lead while Deutch is alluring as his love interest.

The movie explores the chaotic and humorous interactions between the overprotective father and the free-spirited boyfriend, leading to a series of comedic events.
As impressive as Zoey Deutch's dramatic skills are, she has shown many times in her career that she is able to hold her own comedically with some very funny stars. However, when he comes to quickly hate her new tech-billionaire beau (played by James Franco), he decides to do whatever he can to ensure that they do not get engaged.
Cranston and Franco have a lot of fun playing off their odd couple dynamic. Franco is funny as the obnoxious and oblivious rich man, while Cranston has a lot of fun as the cranky father who is a fish out of water in the world of luxury. However, Deutch manages to shine without much material, giving personality to her role as Cranston's daughter, Stephanie, which makes her romance with Franco make more sense.

Zoey Deutch Interview: Not Okay
Not Okay star Zoey Deutch shares what was most uncomfortable about playing Danni Sanders and the possibility of another Dylan O'Brien team-up.
A satire on the modern age of the internet influencer, Deutch's performance is the highlight of the movie, thanks to her ability to make this dislikable character a profound and relatable one that captures the overall message of the story. The movie itself doesn't live up to the committed performance that Deutch delivers, but it makes for a funny and original satire that captures the internet culture in a non-antagonizing and unredeemable way.
