Only two of the The Flash to conclude what will be the Arrowverse's tenth year — it may not seem like so much time has ed, but Arrow’s pilot aired in 2012. What could have been a year of celebration, however, is shaping up to be a year of worry for the Arrowverse.
As of now, Legends of Tomorrow season 8 and Batwoman season 4 have yet to be announced by The CW — meaning both shows are already in the so-called bubble. Of the Arrowverse shows, only Superman & Lois and The Flash already know that they will return for seasons 3 and 9 respectively. In addition to concerning fans of Legends and Batwoman, the current state of renewal of the Arrowverse shows also places a huge question mark on the future of that universe.
The fact that Superman & Lois and The Flash are the only Arrowverse shows renewed so far shows just how much importance these shows have lost within the CW. Once the flagship of the network, the Arrowverse is now far from having the same impact on audiences that it once had. It wasn't so long ago that it looked like shows like Black Lightning, and the absence of news regarding the future of Batwoman and Legends of Tomorrow, it's clear that the Arrowverse's golden years have ed.
The situation gets even worse for the Arrowverse when one considers that Superman & Lois is a stand-alone series. The show is following Ruby Rose's departure from the show at the end of season 1.
After so many years at the top of the superhero game, the Arrowverse's renewal issue reveals just how far that universe has fallen. Once a constant presence on the CW schedule at the beginning of every season, DC shows are no longer a certainty on the network and could be heading into their final years. For now, audiences can only wait and see what the future holds for Batwoman, Legends of Tomorrow, and the Arrowverse as a whole.
