Netflix's new season of more shocking moments, but it also sees Judy and Jen find potential romance in two new characters.
Judy finds comfort and a potential partner in the new character Michelle (Natalie Morales) when they meet at the nursing home Judy works at. The two could make a fantastic couple, but there are also reasons why they won't be able to work. Let's analyze Michelle and Judy's potential relationship a little closer and think about how they could be a great or an awful couple.
Great: Immediate Connection
When Michelle brings her mother to the nursing home Judy works at, they immediately have a connection. They begin joking with each other and Judy gets along with Michelle's mother well enough.
They share a lot of the same interests and the audience can tell they're at ease with each other right from the beginning and become closer throughout the season.
Awful: Michelle's Mother Being Sick
Near the end of the season, Michelle's mother is taken to the hospital and is in critical condition. Michelle is distraught and in a vulnerable place while her mother is sick and it's not an ideal time to start a relationship no matter how perfect a match they may be.
Although Judy could be a good system, beginning to start a relationship on this turbulent ground probably wouldn't be a good decision in the long run.
Great: For Shared Troubles
Although it might not be the best time to start a relationship, both Michelle and Judy would provide good and love to each other. Both are having difficulties with their mothers and that shared trouble could be the basis for a strong relationship.
Hopefully, they'll still be in each other's lives although maybe not add the complexity of romance in the beginning.
Awful: Michelle's Ex-Girlfriend
Michelle's ex-girlfriend is the detective who had been assigned the case of Jen's husband's hit-and-run. Judy went to her to turn in Steve for money-laundering and now she is on the case of Steve's disappearance.
Being that close to her wouldn't be a good idea, and even though there is more room for them to reconcile by the end of the second season, it's still not ideal. Michelle and Detective Perez are still in each other's lives and Perez has made it clear she is not a fan of Judy.
Great: Shared Cooking Interest
Michelle and Judy learn that they have more in common after their initial connection as Michelle reveals she's a chef and Judy loves to cook.
The audience knows that Judy loves to cook and try new things in the kitchen and it's fitting, almost fate, that Michelle is a professional chef. Cooking seems to be one of the only things that make Judy happy, and she and Michelle sharing their interest and love of cooking would be a great part of their relationship.
Awful: Judy Can't Keep Secrets
By the end of the second season, Detective Perez knows the secret that Jen and Judy have been hiding since the end of the first season, but Michelle most likely doesn't know. After Jen killed Steve, she called Judy, and Judy helped her cover it up.
Judy can't keep secrets, and something this big will be agony for her to hold in without telling her partner and it could end up ruining their relationship.
Great: They Treat Each Other Well
Judy did not have a good relationship with Steve. Steve was emotionally abusive and manipulated her, taking advantage of her caring heart, and controlling her.
Judy and Michelle genuinely care about each other and treat each other well. It's nice to see Judy finally happy in a relationship, and about herself, instead of being afraid of her partner and hating herself.
Awful: Bad For Jen
Although Jen chooses to confess to Detective Perez at the end of the second season, she still wouldn't be excited about Judy dating Michelle, Perez's ex. She'd also be concerned about Judy telling Michelle the secret that she killed Steve.
Judy cares deeply for Jen and they're in a good place in their friendship in season 2, and her dating Michelle might affect that.
Great: Judy Can Begin To Move On
Judy never had a good relationship with Steve, he was abusive even before the hit-and-run and now that he is gone and she and Jen are on good she can begin to move on.
Having a loving and ing partner, as Michelle seems to be, would be a great start in Judy's new journey after Steve's death.
Awful: Pulling Michelle Into Their World
Jen and Judy have had to navigate an insane world throughout the first two seasons of this show. Between the death, crimes, and lying they live by a different code than most people do. If Judy began dating Michelle, it would get her caught up in their world.
Detective Perez was assigned to their case and Steve's brother Ben is already connected to them, but right now Michelle doesn't have to worry and if Michelle and Judy started dating, she would be pulled in.
