Warning: This list contains spoilers for Peacemaker.
After years of releasing films to a mixed reception, the The Suicide Squad in 2021. That movie spawned a sequel TV series centered around John Cena's Peacemaker character and it has turned out to be so much better than even the biggest fans might have predicted.
As fun as the action is on HBO Max's Peacemaker and as hilarious as the jokes are, the show works so well because of the characters. James Gunn has made it so the audience cares about these flawed characters who are mostly a pretty likable band of misfits.
Auggie Smith/White Dragon
In The Suicide Squad, Peacemaker was a major antagonist. One of the ways that the series has made viewers get behind the character is to put someone truly evil to oppose him and that's where his own father, Auggie Smith (Robert Patrick) comes into play.
Right off the bat, Auggie is a despicable person since he's a racist white supremacist who is known as the White Dragon. That alone is enough to make him the one character that has zero redeeming qualities in this series. On top of that though, Auggie is also a horrible father who puts his son through hell and blames him for his brother's death.
Clemson Murn
At the start of the show, Clemson Murn (Chukwudi Iwuji) came across as the character who would be the ultimate straight man to the rest of the group's antics. That made him someone who didn't really get in on the fun and that made him less likable than the rest.
The reveal that he was actually a Butterfly made a ton of sense and unexpectedly raised his likability factor. The Butterfly who took over A.R.G.U.S. agent Murn was working against the villains and was trying to save the planet along with the rest of the team, which made him rather heroic.
Keeya
Her last name was never fully confirmed on the show but Keeya (Elizabeth Ludlow) is the wife of Leota Adebayo. There's actually nothing about Keeya that would make any audience member dislike her. She's sweet, caring, and clearly loves Leota in every scene she has.
The biggest thing holding her back from ranking higher is that she's simply not around all that much. Keeya doesn't get enough screen time to make a true impact on the story and is instead just a likable side character who helps motivate Leota to remain a good person at heart.
Judomaster
When the audience is first introduced to Judomaster (Nhut Le), he's working as a bodyguard for a United States Senator who is actually a Butterfly. With Peacemaker and the team targeting the Senator, it put Judomaster at odds with them and set up some epic fights.
Although Judomaster has been an antagonist, it seems clear that he's not a true villain. He was simply doing his job by defending the Senator and since then, he has continued to fight anyone who gets in his way. There's something likable about him from his constant Cheetos consumption to the way he fights and it makes the viewers want him to align with the good guys.
John Economos
First introduced in The Suicide Squad, John Economos (Steve Agee) is the A.R.G.U.S. agent who is meant to give the team its tactical . He's a pretty fun guy to have around as his banter with Peacemaker and now even Vigilante are constant highlights and always entertaining.
Since he mostly stays in the van during the action, it has also been great to see Economos get more physical as the show has gone on. He managed to help take down Judomaster, kill a gorilla with a chainsaw, and gun down a group of white supremacists, showing how much he's grown.
Adrian Chase/Vigilante
There's no doubt that Adrian Chase (Freddie Stroma) is a sociopath. He has no qualms with murdering people, doesn't showcase much emotion, and has itted to being unhinged before. However, there's something about Vigilante that gets the crowd behind him.
His main likable trait is that he's incredibly loyal to Peacemaker, who he looks up to as a big brother. Vigilante even put himself into prison in an attempt to protect Peacemaker from his father. His loyalty has now stretched to cover the rest of the team.
Emilia Harcourt
Like Economos, Emilia Harcourt (Jennifer Holland) made her debut in The Suicide Squad. She has been given far more character development in this series and it has made her more likable. She was clearly closed off when things began but she opened up over time.
That was never more evident than in "Monkey Dory" when the team bonded and Harcourt started a text thread with the rest of the group. It proved that she was willing to show them her true self. Harcourt has questionable morals at times but is loyal and looks out for those she considers important to her.
Christopher Smith/Peacemaker
Turing Peacemaker (John Cena) into someone for the audience to root for was a difficult task given that he went against the team in The Suicide Squad and killed Rick Flag. However, this show has done a deep dive into his past and what has made him the way that he is.
On top of that, Peacemaker has made the choice to be better. He is fine killing the aliens invading and he took out his awful father but he itted that he doesn't want to kill people anymore. Peacemaker also opened up to Leota and the team in a way he never has, which makes his character development something special that turned him into a likable star.
Leota Adebayo
It could be said that the most unlikeable person in the entire DCEU is Amanda Waller. The tough woman has no problems hurting people, murdering others, and doesn't care about any of it. Thankfully, her daughter Leota Adebayo (Danielle Brooks) has proven to be the opposite of her.
Adebayo s the team because of her mother and a need for money but doesn't want to do the bad things that the others do. She is basically the team's moral com and when she does go too far, it upsets her to the point where she wants to leave. Adebayo is also the main one to bond with Peacemaker and gets through to him like nobody else.
Eagly
Leave it to James Gunn to create a non-human character that everyone loves. He's done in the past with the likes of Rocket Raccoon and Groot but Eagly takes it to the next level as this is a character who doesn't even talk. Still, the audience has certainly fallen in love with Eagly.
The hilariously named pet is, like Vigilante, fiercely loyal to Peacemaker, which is endearing. When he was nearly killed, it was one of the show's most emotional moments and the way he got up to hug Peacemaker was powerful, even for Adebayo who only witnessed it.
