See AllJessica Jones’ Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 Return Makes A Heartbreaking MCU Death More Likely
I think they could tease Cherry dying. If they're going for another emotional death, why wouldn't they go for the character death that would affect more than just Murdock? One that would break the heart of Matt and shatter what little remains of Frank Castle's heart. Karen Page dying makes way more sense and she was barely in the new season, so the show definitely works without her and Foggy, as much as it sucks to say that. So if a character has to die, go for the most emotional one that would lead to character development for not one but two characters in both Daredevil and Punishsr.

Terminator's Best Villain Accidentally Created The Franchise's Biggest Plot Hole
Another possible explanation is the Skynet from T2 isn't the same Skynet from T1. If terminators are being sent back by Skynet as a last ditch effort when John Connor and his army overtakes their facilities, what's happening is a new timeline is being created every single time, with each time Skynet getting created in a different way or earlier or later, but ultimately still being created. I believe they were attempting to steer in this direction with Genisys, but only hinted at it with Kyle experiencing certain things once major alterations were being made that branched the timeline.
So the TDE in T1 isn't exactly the same in T2 and so on and so forth.
Either that or nanotechnology in Terminator lore is somehow able to mimic organic matter or even operate in the same way as organic matter.
