Disney has had the MCU since the first Avengers film. So the point you're trying to make has absolutely no legs to stand on. A lull period was inevitable, especially when the main villain they were building to started having real life legal issues, which put everything in a cruise control while they waited for the resolution. Quality dipped, although not on everything. Some projects were phenomenal. Loki season 2, DP & Wolverine, GotG 3, Agatha, Daredevil, etc.
Due diligence has been done more than once. The estate has absolutely no claim to the rights at all and are only trying to get a quick settlement out of WB, hence the timing of the lawsuit. This is something they've done time and time again near a new film's release date. File the lawsuit, which could potentially delay the release of the film, and hope that WB goes the quicker and cheaper route of offering yet another settlement.
If I was WB, I'd let it ride and call the Estate's bluff. In no way do they actually want to pay the legal fees that would come from a full on court hearing and decision on the matter.
I think they could tease Cherry dying. If they're going for another emotional death, why wouldn't they go for the character death that would affect more than just Murdock? One that would break the heart of Matt and shatter what little remains of Frank Castle's heart. Karen Page dying makes way more sense and she was barely in the new season, so the show definitely works without her and Foggy, as much as it sucks to say that. So if a character has to die, go for the most emotional one that would lead to character development for not one but two characters in both Daredevil and Punishsr.
I respectfully disagree. I found the more we learned about Gus, the more interesting he became and with each small kernel of information came more questions that I wanted to learn the answers to.
Nobody's trying to read the world's largest run on sentence in a wall of text. Use some punctuation and line breaks so it's not a jumbled mess next time.
Another possible explanation is the Skynet from T2 isn't the same Skynet from T1. If terminators are being sent back by Skynet as a last ditch effort when John Connor and his army overtakes their facilities, what's happening is a new timeline is being created every single time, with each time Skynet getting created in a different way or earlier or later, but ultimately still being created. I believe they were attempting to steer in this direction with Genisys, but only hinted at it with Kyle experiencing certain things once major alterations were being made that branched the timeline.
So the TDE in T1 isn't exactly the same in T2 and so on and so forth.
Either that or nanotechnology in Terminator lore is somehow able to mimic organic matter or even operate in the same way as organic matter.
I mean, Ultron was programmed to protect Earth from any and all threats. Despite being sentient, he was/is (he's still out there despite the MCU's total lack of bringing him back despite the super obvious and wide open door of the Quinjet Hulk highjacked having a backup of Ultron lurking within its system) still an AI that was given a mission and after 30 seconds of absorbing Earth's history through the internet, determined the greatest threat to Earth was mankind. So blame Tony and Bruce for toying around with a cosmic weapon without knowing exactly how advanced anything made from it would be and then programming it with the vaguest of parameters.
LOL that's definitely an out of left field idea, but is one I'd be interested in hearing how you connected the dots to have it make sense in your head. Probably one of the more aburdist theories I've seen when it comes to BCS/BB, but in a good way.
If that's how it had actually played out though, that would have been a pretty huge bummer. Would have also put Wendy and Jesse's interactions in BB in a whole new light after Kim briefly talking to Jesse in BCS.
He prefers the way Rocksteady portrayed Bane in Arkham Asylum to TDKR? What a joke... not only was he grotesquely huge in that game as he is on the cover of Absolute Batman, they also went the Batman and Robin route of portraying him as a scrawny person before pumping him full of venom, which is just dumb. Bane isn't scrawny without venom. Venom makes him bigger, yes, but he was already a big guy. Plus they didn't even have his Spanish accent in Asylum, plus they made him a complete moron, something WB Montreal had to explain in Origins. WBM's Bane was perfect. TDKR Bane was also really good despite the lack of venom, but considering that continuity is supposed to be realistic, it works, plus the mask was awesome.
I understand he's entitled to his opinion and all, but if he's going to speak on other takes, it'd be nice to know exactly what he's taking issue with.
There's no story going forward in my opinion. Ellie's story is finished. No, it wasn't a happy ending, but violent vengeance stories never do have happy endings. Bittersweet at best. Part 2 went with a more breaker ending of Ellie losing everything because she couldn't let go of that need for vengeance and truly allow herself to grieve and overcome her trauma.
She lost the family she made with Dinah despite Dinah's warning that if she left after Abby, she wouldn't be there if she came back. She lost the ability to play the guitar, which was Joel's gift to her and a personal physical item she could use to keep Joel's memory fresh and alive in her mind, dooming those memories to become more and more faded as time goes on. And she lost her self respect because Abby didn't take those things away from her. Ellie was in full control of her way forward at that point.
There's simply nothing else to tell when it comes to Ellie. Forcing a story where her and Dinah get back together would be a huge cop out and would diminish the story and meaning of Part 2. She has to learn to live with the consequences of her decisions and actions. That's not much of a story to tell there and is one that is likely to have an even more bleak ending.
Abby had a full arc in Part 2. There's nothing more to tell there either.
If anything, the only possible interesting story is what happened in the 20 years before Part 1 that caused such a rift between Joel and Tommy that resulted in Joel being the emotionally walled off and cold man he was at the beginning of the time jump. We know his daughter's death is part of it. We just don't know how bad his spiral into full fledged cynicism was that it caused two brothers to write each other off. More than likely, it's probably the same kind of brutal violent path that Ellie took in Part 2. So that story could be used to show the perpetual cycle of violence that is so hard to break.
Other than that, there's no exactly a whole lot narrative wise.
So if you're telling the truth, I'm assuming Dany still also dies. If Jon dies before her, who does her in? The only logical choice to me would be Jamie Lannister, but if he has the same kind of arc as the final seasons of the show, I just can't see that happening. I hope he doesn't have the same arc. So much character development was thrown in the trash and set on fire when it comes to him, especially in the final season.
And Jon dying once the Long Night is over and not having that internal struggle of deciding who he wants to be would be a pretty big missed opportunity. He's a Stark and a Targaryen, yet the show never made the Stark aspect of it a big part of his struggle, which in itself was a huge missed opportunity. He finds out he isn't Ned's son and is a Targaryen. His struggle then becomes does he want to be a Targaryen or a nobody, which I was like that makes no sense. Because of all the Stark children, Jon Snow, who isn't even the bastard son of Ned Stark, is the one that takes after Ned the most and I thought him choosing to embrace his true heritage or, in the final meeting with Dany and their argument, disowning all of that and claiming that his name isn't Aegon Targaryen, that's not who he is, his name is Jon Stark, son of Ned Stark, not only honoring the memory of the man who took him in and protected him, but also honoring his brothers and sisters he loved.
Three movies would be needed honestly. The book itself is split in three sections, all of which are considerable length and happenings.
The first movie would have to be the military being the primary antagonist. Their role being so diminished in the 2020 miniseries was not only a bad choice, but also making them actually trying to help instead of covering up did nothing for the story at all. With Flagg and Abigail gathering their followers, the military has to be the main threat of the first film. The second film could then center around the establishment of both Las Vegas and Boulder as the two main gathering points. The bomb that goes off is the perfect ending point for a second film as well after a series of events makes a Flagg victory inevitable. And then the third film being the journey to Las Vegas while the only spy left in Vegas makes their escape back to Boulder.
It'd make a very solid trilogy. If Wan plans it as a mostly faithful trilogy with only the time setting being updated, we'd finally get a definitive adaptation of this book. Only the 94 miniseries comes close, but it made some big changes itself, just nowhere near as many very questionable ones as the 2020 miniseries made. Not a single change the 2020 miniseries made was for the better.

“What An Epic Movie This Could Be”: James Wan Names The Stephen King Book That’s “The Only One” Left For Him To Adapt
