Commander Lawrence is one of my favorite characters and Bradley's offering to him is nothing short of pure brilliance. I've long ired his work as one of my most favorite male actors, he's just great in everything he delves into. I hope he survives the end of the season and we see more of him in The Testament, I think it's important to try to keep some of your stronger characters if possible going into sequels. Just look at how many people stopped watching Grey's anatomy before they brought Ellen Pompao back for more frequent scenes? As far as the commander and his inner struggles ? He's really not a bad guy, he's the most likable commander and we see him trying to make amends from past mistakes. I believe he truly wants things to be as good as they can be but he's a true pragmatist. Even with his moments of having empathy, he keeps all of that in check with the reality of any giving situation. He'll push the envelope when he can but he doesn't get overly emotional over things like women being stuck in horrible places.
