It’s funny to read such criticism of a fictional world, that’s sole purpose is meant to take you out of your real world dramas. When you leave all your ‘problems’ at the door, you should be able to enjoy the amazing visual and narrative world the producers, actors and crew, have made. I like the ‘Avatar’ universe, even just for the few hours of visual candy, but also because of the basic idea, you can sit and watch it with family and just imagine a different world for a few hours. Unlike a lot of people, I enjoyed the original film in it’s design, spirit, cinematography, acting, music and overall vision, enough to be invested in the sequel’s, that weren’t inevitable at the time. I have always been someone who’s deeply in touch with the aesthetics of design and function, being it architectural, natural, or tool of everyday living, ‘Things’ have a way of imparting a story of their own, and I feel I touch with its reality, this was something that the Avatar movies impart to me personally. It’s like a return to a world of wonder that I experienced as a child, visiting America as a child, Disney world, Kennedy space centre, Sea World. And those tall buildings I’m in my 50’s so anything that reminds me of that sense of wonder, adventure and optimism of a new day, is something to be cherished. I’m so grateful for the whole team behind Avatar, actors, technicians, directors, art designers, special fx teams, musicians and everyone else involved. I’m in awe of their dedication.
