Peter's actions at Camp David justified why he would make a capable field agent, but much of his mission success in The Night Agent season 1 stemmed from Rose. While working together, Peter and Rose's partnership turned romantic, which made sense based on their undeniable chemistry. Though they seemed eager to stay together as Peter entered a new chapter of his career as a Night Agent, the job caused a few roadblocks in their relationship.

Peter Wasn't In With Rose As An Official Night Agent
When The Night Agent season 2 begins, Peter is working on a mission in Bangkok with a fellow agent named Alice. After what happens to Alice in The Night Agent season 2 due to a botched mission, Peter goes AWOL from Night Action for a month as he's using various aliases in New York City. When Night Action comes looking for their missing agent, Rose confirms that she hasn't talked to Peter in 10 months. This means their relationship essentially came to a halt when Peter got on the plane at the conclusion of The Night Agent season 1.

Of course, Rose's expert hacking skills reunite the pair as they face another terrorist conspiracy together.

Peter's Feelings For Rose Are Why They Can't Be A Couple
When Peter and Rose reunite in The Night Agent season 2, there's obvious tension regarding their relationship. Rose has been struggling since the Camp David event, suffering from nightmares and PTSD. Considering Peter doesn't know who he can fully trust after Bangkok, he hasn't reached out to Rose in an effort to keep her safe. There's still a romantic connection between Peter and Rose in The Night Agent season 2, but Rose's kidnapping is exactly why Peter its that they can't be together.
Netflix has already renewed The Night Agent for season 3, which went into production in late 2024.
There is no question that Rose is valuable to Peter and Night Action as a whole; even Amanda Warren's Catherine its to it several times throughout season 2.
