Everybody loves watching Disney movies, whether it be on the big screen in a theater or on the television in the comfort of one's home. What many will agree is even better is seeing those movies come to life in the form of rides and attractions at one of the many Disney theme parks around the world!
Disney has so many great rides based on movies. You can't leave the Magic Kingdom without going on the spinning Mad Tea Party ride from Dumbo (1941) ride. While these and many other existing rides are great, there are lots of Disney movies that have not yet have the privilege of being featured in a ride. Here are ten of those films that we would love to see in one of the parks ASAP:
Wreck-It Ralph (2012)
Wreck-It Ralph is just begging to be turned into a ride! Have you seen the race track that Vanellope von Schweetz and the other racers from Sugar Rush drive on in their roster race? It's super sweet! (No pun intended!) Racers spiral up the layers of chocolate cherry cake and slide down pieces of sugary colorful candy while ing a delicious scenery of yummy treats and desserts. The candy game would make an excellent race car ride or even a roller coaster! We can't believe it hasn't been done before.
Tangled (2010)
Have you ever dreamed of climbing a tall tower using a beautiful girl's long golden locks? We haven't either, but that doesn't mean that we wouldn't if we were given the opportunity! The story of Rapunzel has been around since 1812, and in 2010, Disney added her to their list of movies with Tangled.
A story as classic as hers deserves to have its own feature at a Disney park. We would even settle for an attraction that wasn't an actual ride, like a rock climbing tower that uses yellow ropes to help hoist yourself up. All the strong guys would want to climb and show off, even if it is a princess themed activity!
Mulan (1998)
There's a popular ride in the Disney World park Epcot that consists of slow moving cars taking an adventure led by a lively little dragon named Figment. Who else do we know that's a small bubbly dragon leading someone on a journey? Mushu, the guardian and spirit guide from Mulan! He definitely should have his own ride at Disney. He could easily be turned into a small roller coaster where riders can zoom around on his long dragon body. We're hoping to see this firey red lizard - uh, dragon - come to the Disney ride circuit sometime soon!
Up (2009)
Any movie that involves an adventure is just destined to be turned into a ride. In Up, Carl blows up thousands of balloons that allow his house to float into the air. He and a young boy Russell then take the long trip to bring the floating house to Paradise Falls. Disney could take the glorious waterfall and turn it into a water ride similar to splash mountain. Another option would be to make a ride that goes into the air via "balloons," like swings or a drop ride. Russell better get deg if he wants to earn his Imagineer Badge!
Moana (2016)
The ocean has chosen Moana, and we have chosen this movie to be made into a Disney attraction! If a film involves the ocean, it can only mean one thing - a water ride!
Moana also has an adventure, in which the young chief's daughter must find the heart of the ocean and return it to Te Fiti, thus restoring peace to the waters and surrounding areas. Park goers could sail through the journey Moana took on a camakau, splashing along with Maui and Tamatoa until Te Kā is defeated and Te Fiti is brought back.
Cinderella (1950)
A story as classic as Cinderella most certainly needs a place in Disney World, and it has one! You may have heard of or seen Cinderella's glorious castle in Magic Kingdom, or maybe a young girl in your life has been to one of the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutiques. Why not complete the trio with a ride?! The magical fairy godmother could take guests into the magic world of transformation as the travel via a pumpkin carriage to the ball! Mice would turn into horses, and we could see Cinderella's beautiful dress come to life up close!
Zootopia (2016)
The movie Zootopia is about a land of anthropomorphic animals. Where would a ride about animals fit perfectly in Disney? At the Animal Kingdom, of course! In between riding on Expedition Everest and seeing Finding Nemo: The Musical, park goers could relive the journey taken by Judy Hopps the police rabbit and Nick Wilde the sly fox as they unravel the mystery threatening to tear their town apart. Who wouldn't want to travel through the land of Zootopia and revisit all of the comical characters that made the movie possible? We definitely would be getting a fast for that ride!
Onward (2020)
Onward was just released in theaters this March, and what better way for Disney to celebrate than by turning it into a ride?! Onward is full of magic and wonder, and a ride based on a movie like that would fit in perfectly in Disney World.
Just about any style of ride could fit with this movie, as long as Ian and his brother Barley are prominently featured! We'd prefer some sort of flying ride, because rides that are high in the sky always seem much more magical, an aspect that makes this movie stand out from other Pixar films!
Beauty And The Beast (1991)
Beauty and the Beast actually does have its own Disney World attraction. There is a 25 minute stage show at Disney's Hollywood Studios in Florida that tells an abridged version of Belle and Beast's tale together. While the play is great and a must see while in Disney, we think that the movie should have a ride as well. The dishes could sing, "Be Our Guest!" while riders travel through the story watching from when Belle sings through the town to when Beast transforms back into a human. Sounds like a tale as old as time!
Brave (2012)
There's a 4D attraction in Brave! Princess Merida loves archery, and she even uses it to compete against suitors that want to take her hand in marriage. It would be be a blast to be like Merida and shoot with a pretend bow and arrow to try and beat family in the competition. Shooting at the terrifying bear Mor'du could also be an aspect of the ride!
